PCD Network Engineer

Position Description
CGI currently has an opening within our Oil and Gas practice for a Control System Network Technician (CS/NT) (Sr. Network Engineer), who will provide system integration, security and operational IT support and network domain administration to the assets. The individual will support, analyze, test, and evaluate network systems, such as local area networks (LAN), wide area networks (WAN), internet, intranet, and other data communications systems within our global oil and gas client's offices and field operations

This role is based in Houston, Texas.

Your future duties and responsibilities
• Perform LAN and system administrative functions for on-shore locations
• Design and administration of multiple LAN's including design, wiring, hubs, routers, and switches.
• Install/Maintain Site wide Backup and Recovery Solution
• Create/Update Site Security Policies, Backup and Recovery Policy
• Troubleshooting issues and resolve LAN/WAN performance, connectivity and related network problems.
• Administration and monitoring WAN resources including VPN, firewall, cell modems, DMZ resources and routers.
• Coordinate and implement network software and hardware upgrades (hubs, bridges & routers.)
• Assist in supporting an AD environment, internet, intranet, and other data communications systems.

Required qualifications to be successful in this role
• Associates Degree (Computer Science or Computer Information Systems or similar degree preferred.) or 5+ years' of equivalent field work experience as a Network Engineer/Administrator within the Control Systems in oil and gas industry.
• 5 years' experience with enterprise level network support and administration.
• Knowledge of TCP/IP, including packet-level analysis.
• Understanding of network security, Firewall configuration, and Cisco systems.
• Experience with Microsoft's infrastructure/server products including: Window Server 2008 (Active Directory), Windows 2003 Server (Active Directory), Visio, and an understanding of how to configure TCP/IP 4 settings.
• This position specifically needs resources who realize what a process control system is and the reality of what a total shut down of the plant systems could do to the business and/or the effects that could occur from the results of a shut-down regarding safety/health problems for the workers on site at the plant/refinery/terminals.
• Must learn to understand vulnerabilities associated with cybersecurity threats.
• Strong English communication skills (oral and written)
• Strong organizational and time management skills
• Ability to provide after-hours support
• Prefer some experience with the following technologies/platforms: LAN/WAN, and system management tools
• Must be very focused on safety and aware at all times that you are in an industrial environment

Desired Qualifications:
• CCNA Security, CCNA Routing and Switching, and GICSP certifications.
