Starting Pay Rate: $11.00-$12.00

Available Shifts:

-      7:00am-3:00pm

-      3:00pm-11:00pm (offers a $0.25 shift differential)

-      11:00pm-7:00am (offers a $0.50 shift differential)

-      7:00am-7:00pm

-      7:00pm-7:00am (offers a $0.50 shift differential)

Requirements        

Complete the Patient Care Assistant training course satisfactorily by meeting all the course requirements, including the clinical component. 

 

Walking and hearing is required 75% or more per shift. Far vision, near vision, low to medium levels of lifting, low levels of carrying and pushing/pulling, low to medium levels of handling and fingering are required about 50% per shift. Standing, talking, medium levels of carrying, pushing/pulling is required about 25% per shift. Sitting, crouching, climbing (ascending or descending), bending/twisting, reaching, very high levels of lifting, high to very high levels of carrying, very high levels of pushing/pulling is required about 10% per shift. Stooping, running grappling, balancing, feeling, high levels of lifting, pushing/pulling, fingering is present only in unusual situations. The required lift for this job classification is 50 lbs.

Description

 

1.    Patient Care Assistant shall allow all residents freedom to move about and exercise their rights as individuals and residents.

 

2.    Provide assistance with bathing, dressing, eating, toileting, and other activities of daily living as needed.

 

3.    Patient Care Assistant will provide assistance with personal care needs in grooming hair, nails, teeth, and etc. as needed.

 

4.    Assure that residents are dressed appropriately when in common areas of the facility or when leaving the facility.

 

5.    Assist and instruct residents skills in self-help – for example: feeding.

 

6.    Assist residents into and out of the bed and/or wheelchair as needed.

 

7.    Assist residents to dining room, bathroom, activity room, outside of building, and etc. as needed.

 

8.    Take and record vital signs as ordered by the resident’s prescribing provider and/or as delegated by the Medication Technician or Supervisor-In-Charge.

 

9.    Patient Care Assistant will document in resident’s treatment record about the care that was provided throughout the shift.

 

10.  Provide personal attention such as bedside water and ice or other personal attention as is requested or required.

 

11.  Patient Care Assistant will assist the Activities Coordinator in carrying out planned activities.

 

12.  Provide assistance when needed to keep clothes cleaned and in proper order.

 

13.  Assist residents with making beds as needed.

 

14.  Provide residents with clean linens as needed.

 

15.  Empty contents of urinals and bedpans, as well as trashcans after performing peri-care.

 

16.  Clean equipment as is necessary, bedpans, urinals, and showering devices should be cleaned after every use.

 

17.  Serve breaks as scheduled per facility policy.

 

18.  Patient Care Assistant will orient new residents to the facility, staff members, and other residents.

 

19.  Notify Medication Technician or Supervisor-In-Charge when changes are noted in a resident’s health and/or mental status.

 

20.  Activate chain of command during emergency situations.

 

21.  Be familiar with the use of restraints, as well as restraint alternatives.

 

22.  Assist in keeping the facility neat, clean, and odor free.

 

23.  Make sure that the hall is staffed at all times.

 

24.  Document and report any and all accidents/incidents.

 

25.  Maintain self-respect, personal dignity, and physical safety of each resident.

 

26.  Work cooperatively with all other staff members and relate favorably to residents and their family members.

 

27.  Understand resident confidentiality and protect the residents’ protected health information.

28.  Be familiar with the policies and procedures of the facility, including fire safety plan, emergency procedures, and chain of command.

 

29.  Know the resident’s bill of rights and assist residents in exercising those rights.

 

30.  Ensure proper use and treatment of equipment and utilization of supplies.

 

31.  Adhere and enforce all facility policies, procedures, and rules. As well as, the rules and regulations of Adult Care Homes.

 

32.  Participate in job-related training and continuing education courses as are recommended or required by the Administrator.

 

33.  Perform other job-related duties as delegated by the Supervisor-In-Charge, Resident Care Coordinator, and/or Administrator.

 

34.  Patient Care Assistants DO NOT under any circumstances barter, trade, purchase, steal, take, or exchange any personal property of residents.
