Edward Rose & Sons has built over 80,000 single-family homes and apartments, and has been actively engaged in residential construction since 1921.

We are currently looking for an experienced Payroll Manager, at our beautiful headquarters in Bloomfield Hills, MI.

The Payroll Manager is responsible for overseeing the payroll team to ensure that all company payroll transactions are processed accurately and timely.  Ensures accurate calculation of wages, taxable withholdings, and deductions. Also, prepares reports as needed.  

Essential Duties and Responsibilities Include:

  • Oversee the payroll processing for the payroll department, which includes work allocation, problem solving and training.
  • Review, reconcile and finalize payroll on a bi-weekly basis.
  • Complete quarterly and annual reconciliation of taxes.
  • Audit, run censuses, plan reviews and oversee quarterly meetings for successful 401K operation.
  • Analyze issues and determine process improvements.
  • Prepare reports for management as needed.
  • Manage payroll communication and collaboration with payroll administrators, on-site locations, and divisional offices.
  • Review and improve payroll processing procedures.
  • Appraise performance with open and honest expectations and communication.
  • Support payroll administrators to ensure projects are completed accurately and timely.
  • Work closely with the People Team.
  • Prepare and reconcile year end reporting for W-2s, Workmen’s Compensation and 401K audit.
  • Stay up to date on payroll best practices and able to interpret new legislation impacting payroll.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in accounting or related field is preferred.
  • Certified Payroll Professional designation is preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of payroll experience.
  • Managerial experience is required.
  • Previous experience using payroll software, Ultimate Kronos/UKG is preferred.
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office programs.
  • Advanced knowledge of Excel.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills are required.
  • Excellent processing skills and attention to detail.
  • Must be detail oriented and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license.
  • Regular attendance, work ethic and strong interpersonal skills are required for success in this position.
