PRIMARY PURPOSE Responsible for organizing and coordinating Performance Improvement and Patient Safety activities at a departmental level within Parkland.
MINIMUM SPECIFICATIONS
Education:
-Must have a Bachelor's degree in a health related field.
Experience: -Must have five years of experience working with performance improvement issues.
Equivalent Experience: -May have an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Certification/Registration/Licensure:
Laboratory Services Only: Must be certified by one of the following:
-Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) or Medical Technologist (MT), - American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) -Medical Technologist (MT) - Department of Health Services (HHS) formerly (HEW) -Medical Technologist (MT) - American Medical Technologist (AMT) -Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) - national certification agency
Nurses Only:
-Must have current RN license or valid temporary license with the Texas Board of Nursing; or, valid Compact RN license.
-Must have current healthcare provider CPR course completion card from one of the following: o American Heart Association o American Red Cross Rescuer o Military Training Network.
Skills or Special Abilities:
-Must be able to demonstrate knowledge of data management and process improvement.
-Must have knowledge of Joint Commission standards and their interpretation as related to areas of responsibility.
-Must be able to demonstrate knowledge and skill to operate a computer to input and extract information using word processing, spread sheet and data base software.
-Must be able to effectively communicate, both orally and in writing.
-Must be able to employ effective problem solving and demonstrate effective interpersonal skills.
-Must be able to demonstrate patient-centered/patient-valued behaviors.
-Nurses Only:
Provides care to assigned patient population in accordance with the current State of Texas Nursing Practice Act, established protocols, multidisciplinary plan of care, and clinical area specific standards.
