We're currently looking for an energized and talented Plant Operations Manager for the Machine Building Division to help push the organization forward by helping and leading in the following areas:

OVERALL RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Plant Operations Manager, under general supervision, is primarily responsible for the overall Machine Building Divisions (MBD) business unit planning, organization, direction, and coordination of identifying business opportunities, quoting, concepting, development, design, fabrication, build and installation of all assembly equipment and testing equipment that fulfill our customer’s requirements.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Provides indirect supervision of MBD team members

  • Provides sales support in the pursuit of potential outside customers concerning sales of assembly equipment, test equipment and miscellaneous tooling/component/service part support for both new and established customers.
  • Approves all quotes and customer purchase order confirmations.
  • Reviews weekly progress reports that represent current status of engineering and prototype samples, assembly equipment, test equipment, fixtures, components and service support for all MBD customers.
  • Provides support in ensuring the maintenance of the MBD compliance to quality systems and Health, Safety and Environmental systems.
  • Maintains and ensures a secure physical plant building and associated parking lots and grounds.
  • Responsible for determining operations equipment requirements and acquiring or disposing of operations equipment in support of business needs.
  • Works closely with internal and external customers to ensure that MBD provides equipment and services of the highest quality with an acceptable delivery timing at a market competitive economic value.
  • Encourages and supports the professional development and conducts performance evaluations of the MBD team members.
  • Determines and justifies appropriate staffing resource levels in accordance with business needs
  • Assists in recruiting, interviewing and onboarding team members.
  • Leads the overall budget and resource planning and execution for the MBD business unit.
  • Ensures that financial budgets are prepared, and that actual engineering and operations activities meet financial objectives.
  • Supports and encourages continuous improvement ideas being identified and implemented by the MBD team members.
  • Supports and encourages a collaborative team environment to develop standard methods and designs to deliver world-class solutions that provide reliable and efficient automation operating assembly and test systems.
  • Performs other duties or tasks as assigned by the VP/GM of Americas.
  • Ability to travel, including overnight as needed, to support customer and business needs as required. Must be able to travel by car or air as needed (domestic and international).

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or equivalent – (Majors in: Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, Engineering Physics, Automation Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Controls Engineering, etc.) preferred.
  • Master’s degree in business administration preferred.
  • At least 5-7 years of experience in custom automation assembly and test equipment quoting, development, design, fabrication, assembly, and installation preferred
  • At least 5 years of supervisory experience preferred.
  • At least 2 years of operations experience preferred.
