Job Description
Great company with a great can-do culture where people who work well in a team can thrive. This position is responsible for designing, integrating, or improving manufacturing systems or related processes to increase producibility and decrease costs.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Identify opportunities or implement changes to improve products or reduce costs using knowledge of tooling and production equipment, assembly methods, quality control standards, or product design, materials and parts.
- Determine root causes of failures using statistical methods and recommend changes in designs, tolerances, or processing methods.
- Design testing methods and test finished products or process capabilities to establish standards or validate process requirements.
- Provide technical expertise or support related to manufacturing.
- Incorporate new methods and processes to improve existing operations.
- Troubleshoot new or existing product problems involving designs, materials, or processes.
- Drive activity needed to manage life-cycle of products
- Review product designs for manufacturability or completeness, and development of latest processes
- Develop and prepare specifications, work instructions, visual aids and other documentation for new manufacturing processes and products or engineering procedures; train technical and production personnel on new or existing methods.
- Manage activities with tooling and equipment vendor involving design, build, and installation.
- Design layout of equipment or workspaces to achieve maximum efficiency.
- Develop and implement new, transfer and capacity programs with manufacturing teams.
- Source and integrate new equipment; manage and monitor project spending, and product cost.
- Investigate or resolve operational problems, such as material use variances or bottlenecks.
- Lead cost saving and continuous improvement projects by working closely with production and technical support teams to improve quality, reduce scrap, improve throughput and reduce overall product cost.
- Participate and implement lean manufacturing initiatives. Apply continuous improvement methods to enhance manufacturing quality, reliability, or cost effectiveness.
- Read current literature, network with colleagues, participate in educational programs, and attend meetings and workshops to keep abreast of developments in the manufacturing field.
- Prepare reports summarizing information or trends related to manufacturing performance.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Ability to understand basic Six Sigma concepts and interpret methodology results.
- Ability to read and write technical specifications and reports.
- Experience working with resins and coating applications is a must.
- Ability to proficiently use various company-related and external systems and databases.
- Ability to work effectively with customers, internal/external personnel, suppliers, and vendors.
- Ability to work in a fast paced environment and manage several projects simultaneously.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering in the field of Mechanical, or closely related field.
- Minimum of one (1) to years (2) years of experience in manufacturing and/or the automotive industry preferred.
- Proven skills in AutoCAD and SolidWorks required
- Must have knowledge of Six Sigma methodology/Continuous Improvement
- Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Project, Excel, Outlook, Teams).
