Position: Program Specialist/Sr. ARK Assistant

Position’s Primary Purpose:

  • To assist the Executive Director with the operations of Cricket’s Hope, a nonprofit public benefit corporation.
  • To lead, co-lead, develop, manage and supevise the day-to-day operations of youth programs and assist with other Cricket’s Hope programs such as the Art Restores Kids (ARK) Program and mentoring.
  • To champion youth by bolstering support within young, vulnerable cohorts and help them heal from the trauma by being a positive force in their lives.

Expected Outcomes Or Key Accountabilities For The Position

Program Specialist & ARK Assistant:
  • Develop, implement, and monitor day-to-day Cricket’s Hope youth programs by furnishing our local vulnerable youth with support through targeted program, interventions, and interactions.
  • Mentor youth and refer disenfranchised individuals to helpful services within our vicinity when needed.
  • Become intimately familiar with prevalent youth-related afflictions and exhibit an unfaltering commitment to helping youth reach their fullest potential.
  • Document program components develop curriculum and evaluate program effectiveness.
  • Assist with the leadership, implementation and execution of the Art Restores Kids Program.

Responsibilities Include:
  • Develop an understanding of how to Communicate the purpose of our programs and roles and how it operates within Cricket’s Hope.
  • Familiarizing yourself with youth-related difficulties, particularly within vulnerable cohorts.
  • Crafting and rolling out targeted, sustainable programs to minimize inequities.
  • Promote loving relations in appropriate instances focusing on non-violent behaviors.
  • Fostering social cohesion to promote well-being.
  • Gathering and distributing helpful supplies.
  • Assisting unemployed and uninspired youth to acquire gainful, meaningful work or help them become successful in their studies, passions, and hobbies.
  • Remain accessible and steadfast as a mentor.
    • Empowering them to resolve current issues and to develop coping strategies for the future.
    • Provide a model for a healthy, trusting relationship through clear communication and setting appropriate boundaries.
    • Acknowledging their strengths, talents and gifts and encouraging them to find ways to use them.
    • Be an active listener and offer support and encouragement when appropriate.
    • Engage in activities outside of the home to help expose youth to new opportunities and experiences.
    • Assist with the Art Restore Kids Program by leading and co-leading the:
    • Prepare workshop materials.
    • Prepare warm up exercises, games, and activities for children participating in our programs.
    • Keep necessary logs, permission slips, and other documentation needed for program implementation, data collection and reporting and process improvement.
    • Work as part of a team, taking some leadership roles, but also helping behind-the-scenes.
    • Train and assist volunteers in offering the creative arts as a “window of safety” for children to explore their feelings and regain their sense of self-esteem and personal power.
    • Possessing a demonstrated heart for children, and have experience working with children in many settings.
    • Be a good listener, be encouraging to children, and promote caring and friendly behaviors.
    • Keep a consistent and regular schedule as agreed upon with the Executive Director.
    • Follow/adhere to Cricket’s Hope, Inc., Policies and Procedures per their employee handbook.
    • Attend Camp with the campers and staff as time and schedules allows.

    • Display lots of energy, as the days with students are long, active, and filled with lots of fun but, there is not a lot of “down time”.

    Trained Skills Needed:
    • Trauma-informed care
    • Ability to multi-task and prioritize work
    • Self-sufficient and resourceful
    • Proficiency in Word, Excel and the internet

    Education/Experience:

    Required
    • Must be 18 year of age or older
    • Reliable transportation or effective way to travel to and from off-site locations
    • Be able to walk, move quickly, reach, bend and stoop throughout the day.
    • Pass background check
    • Passion for Cricket’s Hope, Inc., Cricket’s House and the children we serve.

    Desirable
    • Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work, Sociology, Psychology, Counseling, Business or related field.
    • Experience working with children affected by trauma
    • Bi-Lingual

    Salary
    • $15.00 - $20.00 per hour depending upon experience
