Our largest UK site in Harrogate, North Yorkshire is currently recruiting for a QC Scientist to join the Molecular Biology & Virology team within the CMC division and will be responsible for managing studies on behalf of our clients for analytical testing of cell and gene therapy molecules and vaccines.

 

You will have responsibility for:

 

  • Supporting biodistribution, persistence & shedding studies and clinical trials and BioCMC analytical testing and Biosafety testing on batch release and stability material in our dedicated PCR and virology suites
  • Performing and reviewing a wide range of analytical techniques in accordance with GMP, GLP and GCP regulatory requirements
  • Acting as a subject matter expert in one or more of the following analytical techniques: qPCR/RTqPCR/ Digital PCR, Nucleic Acid Extractions, Transduction Assays,TCID50 Assays, Sequencing, Cell Culture, Virus production
  • Method development activities and data approval to ensure our clients’ molecules pass quality control testing in the timeframe allocated
  • Ensuring regulatory compliance and that studies are completed according to plan
  • Performing necessary investigations according to our Quality Management System
  • Managing junior analysts and other team members

Education/Qualifications:

  • The post holder should ideally have a relevant degree along with industry experience

Experience:

  • Technical expertise in at least one of the following scientific disciplines - eg qPCR, DNA extraction within Microbiology or Gene Therapy
  • Experience in similar types of study management and client management
  • An in-depth understanding of health and safety policies and a good understanding of GMP/GLP/GCP and an up to date knowledge of regulatory guidelines
  • Able to communicate effectively at all levels with internal employees and external clients, with the ability to get things done by influencing others
  • Commercial awareness, interpersonal and negotiating skills and able to learn and maintain knowledge of process excellence processes
