Job Description
Primarily responsible is working with management personnel in developing processes which ensure the highest-level quality assurance by providing guidance to quality, production, and operation team members to achieve the highest level of food safety and quality of this company’s products. The following are the key responsibilities for the position:
  • Directly engaged in enforcing GMPs (Good Manufacturing Practices), HACCP, allergen controls, SQF 2000 Code, and USDA/FDA guidelines; mentors’ employees on the line to correct any deviations from established procedures
  • Assists QA/Regulatory Affairs Coordinator and Food Safety, Quality, and R&D Manager with audit preparation and acts as secondary point of contact with auditors, as well as other regulatory compliance officials, such as USDA inspectors.
  • Completes daily pre-operation inspection checklist, including swab samples, and informs sanitation lead of any issues that need to be fixed prior to start-up.
  • Monitor performance of quality control systems to ensure effectiveness and efficiency. Coordinates investigation of complaints concerning defective and/or substandard products.
  • Performs quality reviews for compliance with stated requirements, including vendor quality manuals company quality records, such as label approvals , lot approvals , etc.
  • Check finished products for proper codes per vendor specifications and production run and ensures labels on finished cases are correct per vendor specifications and match enc lose
  • Reviews all incoming purchased products or components and provides input to the decision of whether to accept the product and future purchases from the vendor.
  • Maintains a working Knowle dge of government and industry quality assurance codes and standards , including US DA, FDA, SQF 2000 Code, HACCP, GMPs, and allergen control.
  • Serves as a backup for SQF, food safety , and food quality if the Director of Food Safety is unavailable.
Job Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree is preferred, but food safety certification and 3-years of food quality experience is required.
  • HACCP Certification preferred, but not required.
  • Experience working in USDA, FDA, SQF 2000 Code, HACCP, etc facility required.
  • Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office Word, Excel and Outlook
  • Strong leadership skills, excellent verbal and written communication and organization skills
  • Ability to communicate professionally with people at all levels of the organization and external contacts
  • Strong decision-making skills are required.
Compensation and Benefits
The compensation for this position will be determined by the qualifications and experience the candidate brings to the job. However, the targeted compensation is $90,000 to $100,000+, but if the successful candidate brings enough value, the client may pay a much higher base salary. This company pays 100% of the employees medical, dental and vision!
