Job Summary: Responsible for nursing care rendered at facility; supervision of nursing personnel of each unit; and other corollary duties assigned by the Director of Nursing Services.

Job Duties:

1. Supervises Nursing care services and staff on all nursing units while on duty.
2. Monitors staff performance to ensure that plan of Care of all residents is being followed, and that Nursing care is properly documented.
3. Prepares the Twenty- Four (24) Status Report.
4. Assists with planning and daily coordination of staff schedules for assigned shifts.
5. Maintains Infectious Control Standards and provides education and support to staff and residents as needed.
6. Provides first aid and completion of Accident Incident Report for staff and visitors; explores Accident/incidents of residents as notified.
7. Coordinates laboratory, x-ray, oxygen services on the premises and records billing information for continuous oxygen use.
8. Assists with orientation and training programs for staff.
9. Conducts in service education programs, upon request.
10. Ensures that high standards of care are met, and that residents rights are protected and personal preferences are respected.

Qualifications:

1. Credentials as a Registered Professional Nurse with a current New York State license required.
2. At least one year of experience as a Head Nurse or Charge Nurse preferable in geriatric nursing required.
3. Organizational skills and ability to relate well with other staff and residents necessary.
4. Ability to supervise and discipline staff and ensure that high standards of care are
   maintained necessary.
5. Ability to communicate well (verbally and in writing), teach, utilize creative problem- solving
   and handle problems diplomatically necessary.
6. Caring, respectful attitude towards residents required.
7. Ability to perform tasks to established standards of excellence required
