Main Function of RN Assessment Coordinator

To maintain an orderly, efficient, and exacting system for MDS assessment, implementation and delivery of resident care.  Assures that the plan of care for each resident is followed through appropriately and that all physicians’ orders are carried out.

Duties and Responsibilities of RN Assessment Coordinator

·        Executes and evaluates effectiveness of resident care plans, MDS, OBRA regulations and department and facility administrative policies and procedures assuring that the delivery and documentation of care is reflected in the medical record. 

·        Assures the assessment instrument meets state requirements for billing purposes.

·        Assures that MDS assessments are completed on each resident according to federal and state requirements.

·        Participates in formatting, interpreting and implementing department objectives of providing quality resident care in compliance with established guidelines and regulations.

·        Keeps informed of new nursing care methods, equipment, procedures, etc.

·        Coordinates with physicians and ancillary departments in the assessment of resident needs and treatments and updated billing information.

Education and Experience for RN Assessment Coordinator

·        Graduate of School of Nursing. 

·        Currently licensed as Registered Nurse in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. BSN preferred.

·        Knowledge of OBRA and state rules/regulations for long term care facilities.

·        Previous long-term care clinical nursing experience recommended.
