The Radiology RN provides continuous quality nursing care to patients.  While the RN in the Radiology department does perform all aspects of the nursing process, a large percentage of his/her time is spent on monitoring patients who receive sedation/analgesia and/or are undergoing invasive procedures. This role effectively maintains the standard of practice, and promotes communication and collaboration with physicians, radiology staff and other members of the healthcare team.

 
In this role you will:
  • Provide care to patients using the nursing process as a guide for actions, assesses and formulates an appropriate plan that addresses: educational needs, discharge planning, age-specific needs, and bio-psycho-social needs.
  • Administer and monitor patients undergoing sedation/analgesia per physician order and hospital protocol.
  • Demonstrate knowledge and competency of patient care requirements specific to the Radiology department including the safe and correct transporting and positioning of patients, use of and possible reactions to contrast media and radiation safety procedures.
  • Demonstrate team work, adaptability, and serving as a resource to the patient care team.

 

 

 

 

Qualifications

 

 

What qualifications you will need: 
  • Graduate of an accredited diploma, associates, or baccalaureate degree registered nursing program. 
  • Minimum of six (6) months of clinical experience as a licensed Registered Nurse
  • Current Registered Nurse License in the State of Texas or Multi-State Compact License (Employees with RN Compact License are required to obtain Texas RN License within 90 days of hire date)
  • Current American Heart Association BLS Certification
  • Current American Heart Association ACLS Certification
