Registered Nurse (RN) Manager - Surgical Oncology 

Ascension St. Vincent Indianapolis

Full-Time Days

Join our team of highly skilled & dedicated nurses on our Surgical Oncology and Head & Neck Progressive units.  Our surgical oncology team cares for a wide range of cancer patients, both with respect to diagnoses and age.  Our patient population is almost exclusively postoperative.  Our staff provide care and compassion to an extremely acute patient population who are in the early stages of their cancer fight. 

 

Surgical Oncology is a unique and amazing place to work because it is one of the only places where you can care for patients at almost any stage of life. We have some very high risk pregnant patients and ensure they have access to immediate medical attention at any time. We've taken care of individuals of all ages due to the special nature of the surgeries. We also are there to help as people transition to the end of their lives and help to make that process as calm and peaceful as possible. 

The staff on this unit is friendly and welcoming. When we have nurses from resource or those who have floated from other units they often remark on how kind and helpful everyone is.

Surgical Oncology unit consists of 36 beds and a nurse to patient ratio of 1:4 or 1:5 

Patients we serve:

Hysterectomy, bowel resection, nephrectomy, Whipple, HIPEC, prostatectomy, cystectomy, pelvic exenteration, laryngectomy, mandibulectomy, reconstructive free flaps, high risk OB, placenta accreta, interstitial brachytherapy, Davinci surgeries.

Ascension St. Vincent Surgical Oncology unit is located at 2001 W. 86th Street, Indianapolis, IN 46260 is hiring Full-Time, Day Shift - RN - Flexible hours between 7:00AM - 4:00PM, Monday - Friday with 24/7 unit accountability.

What You Will Do:

Manage activities, workflow and nursing resources of assigned nursing unit(s).


Responsibilities:

  • Ensure compliance with regulatory and accreditation requirements for self and within unit.
  • Conduct hiring, training, directing, development and evaluating of staff.
  • Identify and resolve issues affecting the delivery of patient care services for the assigned unit(s).
  • Develop and implement policies and procedures to guarantee efficient and effective delivery of health services in a unit.
  • Monitor and adhere to budget. Approve or monitor expenditures, purchases and other actions to ensure compliance with budget guidelines.
What You Will Need:

Licensure / Certification / Registration:

  • BLS Provider credentialed from the American Heart Association (AHA) obtained within 12 Months (1 year) of hire date or job transfer date required.
  • One or more of the following required:
    • Registered Nurse credentialed from the Indiana Board of Nursing obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date.
    • Registered Nurse credentialed from the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date.

Education:

  • Diploma from an accredited school/college of nursing with experience required.

Work Experience:

  • 3 years of experience required.
  • 1 year of leadership or management experience required.
Additional Preferences:

Experience preferred: Minimum of 3 years of RN experience in an acute care setting.
