Registered Veterinary Technician

Want to put your skills to use in a fast-paced yet fun, family owned, (one human, four dogs and four cats) veterinary hospital? Consider working with a great, professional, caring and fun team. El Gato Veterinary Hospital hopes to add a full-time Registered Veterinary Technician, (RVT), or Veterinary Assistant to support the existing staff serving the dogs, cats, and pocket pets in and around Los Gatos, California.

The ideal candidate fulfills many roles within the hospital setting including surgery assistance, collecting and conducting laboratory tests, patient nursing, triage, emergency care, client support and education, record maintenance, cleaning and stocking the premises as well as working with and supporting your fellow employees. This individual must be detail-oriented, well organized, able to make good decisions, follow directions, provide and maintain a high standard of patient care and have fun doing it.

 Requirements and Skills

·         Must be licensed as an RVT by the State of California or in the process of obtaining a license.

·         Employment is contingent upon satisfactory completion of a drug test.

·         Must be able to work Saturdays possible (after COVID restrictions); staff safety and appropriate COVID protocols are key.

·         Must be able to read and write legibly and communicate clearly in English.

·         Must have basic computer skills; experience with “Cornerstone” computer system is preferred.

·         Must be able to lift and carry an object or pet weighing up to 30 lbs. without assistance.

·         Must be able to handle and restrain pets as needed.

·         Must have a sense of humor and be willing to have fun.

·         Other duties as assigned.
