The Senior Economist will play a meaningful role in further developing our rapidly growing Data Analytics function. Partnering with stakeholders across Product Management, Engineering and Analytics teams, as well as with other teams around the business, this role will surface key insights to drive business decision making. This role requires someone with strong analytical and technical skills, and who is comfortable working across multiple functional areas in a fast-paced, challenging environment.

We are remote optional through April 4, 2022 afterwards this role will be in-office in our New York City office long-term.

Responsibilities

  • Surface insights to drive executive decision making across the business
  • Develop and enhance causal models to evaluate the impact of various actions within the MongoDB ecosystem
  • Partner with business operations to build pricing models for MongoDB offerings
  • Effectively communicate econometric model outputs to business teams and incorporate feedback into project analysis/modeling
  • Productionize models for wide use across the organization
  • Analyze the supply-side dynamics of MongoDB’s marketplace and suggest improvements
  • Make the team more efficient: Research and implement new tooling/processes; seek out and automate existing costly manual processes
  • Serve as an analytical and technical thought partner to stakeholders across the product, analytics, data science teams

Skills & Attributes
  • PhD in Economics or highly related field (Marketing, Finance, Statistics, Math)
  • At least 5 years of post-doc experience in research or business problem solving leveraging economics and related disciplines
  • Experience with scientific/statistical languages such as Python, R, or Matlab and fluency in SQL
  • Hands-on experience with causal estimation, the design of randomized experiments, and demand estimation
  • Experience with large data sets, big data, and analytics
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate and set priorities with a variety of key stakeholders at all levels of the organization
  • Working knowledge and practical experience of econometrics concepts (time series models, forecasting, panel data, high dimensional problems, etc.)
  • Effective at communicating technical concepts to non-technical audiences
