What You'll Do

Symbotic has an excellent opportunity for a highly motivated Senior Engineering Technician within the System Test department . The System Test organization is a multidisciplinary group dedicated to validating the performance of Symbotic's warehouse automation system and driving the highest standards of quality and reliability. System Test is responsible for all aspects of test planning and execution, from early-stage new product development initiatives to continuous improvement of our active production systems. This very hands-on role will support engineering prototype builds, assemble fixtures, perform hardware tests, organize labs and equipment, and assist mechanical and electrical teams in product development activities. Work will span across Hardware E ngineering groups and encompass a wide variety of projects.

In This Role

  • Work and collaborate with design and test engineers to build and test prototypes.
  • Debug mechanical and electrical issues on prototype hardware or instrumentation, develop solutions and implement fixes.
  • Perform product validation and verification of hardware in field or lab environments.
  • Collaborate with other engineering teams to coordinate assembly and installation of new prototype hardware.
  • Analyze all products to identify any manufacturing defects and resolve all hardware issues in coordination with development engineers.
  • Collaborate with test engineers to design, build and implement test tools, fixtures, and facilities.
  • Instrument various hardware systems and collect data in support of research and failure analysis investigations.
  • Execute engineering test plans, meticulously log data and outcomes, and communicate them effectively within the team.
  • Ability to read mechanical drawings in AutoCAD and SolidWorks
  • Communicate with all engineering teams involved in product design and development.


What You'll Need
  • Minimum of (5) years of experience as an Engineering Technician in a product development environment.
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering related discipline preferred, not required.
  • Experience in robotics, electromechanical design or automation strongly preferred.
  • Ability to quickly understand how electromechanical systems operate.
  • Wide background of hands-on skills ranging from electromechanical assembly experience, wiring, soldering, instrumentation, and prototype fabrication.
  • Experience with experimental design (DOE), data analysis, and plotting.
  • Familiar with mechanical design, mechatronics, and CAD modeling (SolidWorks a plus)
  • Experience using mills, lathes, and welding a plus.
  • Ability to travel domestic. Must have valid driver's license and credit card for expenses (reimbursable).
