PRIMARY PURPOSE

Responsible for coordinating and development of advanced analytics for high-risk, highly-complex and ambiguous topics, as well as providing project support services to ensure regulatory compliance within the Patient Health Record.

MINIMUM SPECIFICATIONS

Education

- Must have a Bachelor's degree in management information systems, electrical or computer engineering or related

- Prefer a Master's degree in a related field or any suitable combination of equivalent years of education, training or experience.

 Experience

- Must have six (6) years of experience auditing/analyzing healthcare, or business related data and information systems.

- Must have two years HIM Database Specialist experience or demonstrate ability to perform at a higher level.

- Must have three (3) years of working knowledge of reporting tools along with three years of reporting experience.

- Must have experience with database design/maintenance and report writing.

- Must be able to create SQL queries to extract, manipulate, transfer data.

- Must be able to troubleshoot inefficient queries and build concise optimized SQL queries with PL and T SQL.

- Must have knowledge about supporting database applications and ability modifying views and tables without disrupting operations.

 - Must have experience with Business Intelligence in scheduling report and publications.

- Prefer experience and working knowledge of Business Intelligence and Data Visualization tools in SAP Crystal Reports or Webi.

- Must have experience working with the Epic or similar EMR software application.

- Prefer experience and working knowledge of Epic Clarity, Cogito or Chronicle database environments.

- Must be knowledgeable of MS Office applications and be able to create clear documentation of processes via OneNote/Visio/SharePoint.

- Prefer ability to create and maintain IDT universes or similar tools.

- Prefer ability to maintain SharePoint lists and general upkeep of SharePoint. - Prefer a working experience with coding with Python for ETL and/or SSIS experience.

Equivalent Education and/or Experience

- Must have an equivalent combination of education, training and experience to substitute for both the education and the experience requirements.

- Must demonstrate excellent critical thinking skills with an emphasis on evaluating and interpreting Parkland data for reporting needs.

- Must have a strong understanding of healthcare inpatient and outpatient operations.

- Must have good organizational skills and be able to demonstrate both analytical and creativity skills.

- Must demonstrate exceptional abilities for high level comprehension of projects and environment as well as remain extremely detail oriented for tasks and responsibilities.

- Must be able to write detailed reports of observations and recommendations.

- Must demonstrate effective interpersonal verbal, written communication and presentation skills with all levels of individuals in the organization.

- Must be able to demonstrate proficient knowledge and skills to operate a personal computer to input and extract information using word processing, spreadsheet, and database software.

- Must be independent and reliable with the ability to drive initiatives to completion and to work effectively as part of a team, and on an independent basis.

- Must be able to demonstrate a thorough working knowledge of data analysis, database design, and information systems.

- Must be able to demonstrate ability to be self-directed and learn quickly with strong attention to detail.

- Must understand healthcare terminology, business processes, and user issues associated with hospital/clinic practice.

Responsibilities

1. Provides project management leadership through planning, managing, performing, controlling, and reporting on the work performed by individual project teams on multiple, concurrent, and increasingly complex projects.

2. Determines the approach of reviews and formulates the project methodology based upon an understanding of the processes gathered through interviews, research, and process evaluation.

3. Designs sustainable tools for the review team to document results, as well as reports to communicate results with the stakeholders.

4. Provides a quality analysis of review results prior to submitting reports for distribution.

5. Meets with departmental stakeholders periodically to discuss initial findings and to assist in developing action plans to address recommendations. Provides training to the stakeholders on continuous monitoring activities.

6. Participates on several interdisciplinary committees as assigned and proactively identifies issues that would require review by hospital committees before implementation.

7. Takes initiative to conduct in-depth assessments of documentation processes. Proactively identifies and communicates issues and risks within the Electronic Medical Record. Makes recommendations and suggestions to assigned manager regarding potential review planning.

8. Establishes and maintains collaborative, responsive customer service with internal and external customers by providing continuous follow through and communication regarding review status and priorities.

9. Initiates, develops, and implements changes to the continuous monitoring processes, methods, and tools to improve effectiveness, productivity, and efficiency that improve the overall goals of the department and Parkland.

10. Maintains knowledge of applicable rules, regulations, policies, laws and guidelines that impact the medical record. Develops effective internal controls designed to promote adherence with applicable laws, accreditation agency requirements, and federal, state, and private health plans. Seeks advice and guidance as needed to ensure proper understanding.

11. Identifies ways to improve work processes and improve customer satisfaction. Engages in continuous improvement for outcome, accuracy, and efficiency. Makes recommendations to supervisor, implements, and monitors results as appropriate in support of the overall goals of the department and Parkland.
