Job Overview:

Senior Research Assistant-Small Animal Toxicology

 


The Senior Research Assistant will serve as technical expert for the Small Animal Toxicology group.  In addition to independently carrying out technical phases of complex studies, including study management, data organization, QA audit response, internal and external client communication skills, and quality check procedures.

 

Duties include but not limited to:

Responsible for study scheduling Small Animal Toxicology studies including technical team capacity,animal rooms, equipment, live-phase technicians, necropsy, study account set up, animal procurement and daily task scheduling
Independently carry out technical phases of complex studies, including study management, data organization, QA audit response, internal and external client communication skills, and quality check procedures.
Perform research and development 
Develop and implement training for less experienced staff
Develop new procedures and associated SOPs.
Monitor recently developed procedures and refines as needed.
Create metrics.
Perform edit and scheduling functions using data collection systems.
Assist in preparation of study costing, staff plans, and scheduling activities.
Participate in client visits, debriefings, and study initiations.
Identifies and take appropriate action with problems, potential problems with protocols, SOPs, and schedules.
Participate in scientific presentations and posters 
Able to adapt techniques to new procedures or particular needs as directed.
Effectively schedules multiple assignments.
Report all animal care concerns and become involved in the resolution and appropriate corrective action, when necessary.
Performs other related duties as assigned

Education/Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Life Sciences with a minimum of three years direct experience 

Experience may be substituted for education requirements.

Professional certification required (LATg/HT) highly preferred but not required 

Experience:

Must be able to work in a laboratory setting with laboratory animals

Ability to read, record, and communicate information

2+ years of Animal Research experience
