What will you do?

As a Shop Mechanic working for GSI, there is no typical day. You will be responsible for preventive maintenance, repairing, and emergency repairs for heavy construction equipment with a primary focus on hydraulics, electrical, pneumatic, engine (Gas and Diesel) troubleshooting systems and welding fabrication required in a shop environment AND locally in the field when needed for emergency repairs. How will you make a difference?

  • Perform routine maintenance and repairs on a variety of heavy duty machines or mechanical components according to requirements and OEM sop’s
  • Inspect machines, engines, transmissions etc. and run diagnostic tests to discover functionality issues
  • Conduct repairs aiming for maximum reliability and safe operations
  • Correctly and efficiently troubleshoot reported problems and resolve them in a timely manner
  • Perform thorough maintenance on machinery, equipment and systems including pneumatics, hydraulics, electronics, gearboxes, and communication software
  • Clean and apply lubricants to machinery components
  • Replenish fluids and components of engines and machinery
  • Undertake other duties as assigned (e.g. repair of hydraulic systems, welding, etc.)
  • Keep logs of work and report on issues

What you need to bring?

 

Minimum Qualifications

  • Proven experience as Mechanic
  • Excellent knowledge of machinery and hydraulic, electrical and other systems and their components
  • Aptitude in using various hand tools (screwdrivers, hammers etc.) and precision measurement tools (e.g. calipers)
  • Ability to follow established procedures and practices and read instruction, blueprints etc.
  • A strong commitment to all health and safety guidelines
  • Very good communication skills
  • A problem-solving ability
  • Very good physical strength and stamina
  • High school diploma is preferred; Certification from a vocational school or completion of apprenticeship is a definite plus
  • Able to lift 75 lbs.
  • Able to read detailed manuals and write clear descriptions of work performed on a daily basis.
  • Able to navigate new software on iPad
  • Ability to think outside the box and to have and maintain a positive

Preferred qualifications

  • Licensing/certification as a mechanic highly desired
  • Trade School/College degree preferred
  • Heavy equipment experience
