Social Worker (LCSW) - Trauma / Emergency Department

SCHEDULE:  Full-time, Days (with weekend rotation)

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Trauma Social Worker is responsible for patient psychosocial needs of the emergency room and trauma patients. Provides emotional support, psychosocial assessment, counseling, crisis intervention and discharge planning services to patients and families.  Responsible for all other Social Worker discharge planning needs and collaboration with team members for appropriate referrals to community resources and discharge needs. Assists patients and caregivers with end of life issues, from advance directives to grief support. Engage in community outreach and program development to support patient and caregiver needs.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Masters degree in Social Work (MSW) required
• Florida Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) required
• Advanced social worker skills required; including, but not limited to: empathy, sensitivity to cultural and ethnic diversity, advocacy, communication, and crisis intervention
• Knowledgeable about internal, community, and post-acute care resources required
• Prior acute care trauma social work experience preferred

ADDITIONAL COMPETENCIES / QUALIFICATIONS:

• Demonstrates knowledge and application of intermediate patient care, to include vital signs
• Participates in the unit based Quality Improvement process
• Practices, endorses, and provides customer service skills to patients, visitors, physicians and staff
• Demonstrates knowledge and respect of patient's right to privacy and protection of patient's confidentiality
• Monitors and documents information regarding patient assessments, treatment plan, and counseling as required
• Regular, punctual, and dependable attendance
• Ability to communication with administration, staff, physicians, patients, and family, at all levels
• Knowledge of body substance isolation
• Ability to use a computer and calculator
• Ability to listen, empathize, and respond to patient, family, internal and external partner's needs
• Ability to work as part of a team: must be able to work well with others to achieve common goals
