Role Summary/Purpose:

Millions of cardholders. Billions of transactions. All automated and supported 24/7/365. You would create the platforms to run all those applications once you join our IT team as a Database Engineer.

As a Sr. Database Administrator (DBA), you’ll be in a vital lead role implementing and running the database platforms that help our cardholders manage their finances on the go.

We’re proud to offer you choice and flexibility. You have the option to be remote, and work from home, or come into one of our offices. You may be occasionally requested to commute to our nearest office for in person engagement activities such as team meetings, training and culture events.

Essential Responsibilities:   

  • Implement infrastructure as code for various database platforms (MS SQL and PostgreSQL)

  • Implement monitoring and logging solutions for different database technology stacks 

  • Implement Database automation or scripting to automate various DBA tasks

  • Perform other duties and/or special projects as assigned

Basic Qualifications/Requirements:

  • 7+ years’ experience as a Senior DBA or Database Engineer; Expertise in designing and configuring mission critical, highly available and high throughput Databases using MS SQL (SQL Server) and PostgreSQL

  • Bachelor’s Degree with a minimum of 10+ years of experience performing Database automation and integration (ideally leveraging an agile methodology)

  • Competence in using scripting such as PowerShell, Ruby, Python and Perl to automate frequently executed activities

  • Experience in automation technologies such as Chef, Ansible and Terraform

  • Public Cloud (AWS) experience to configure databases for mission critical, highly available and high throughput application preferably on AWS RDS

  • AWS Cloud Certifications

  • Experience in Migrating DBs from Oracle to PostgreSQL

  • Experience in Migrating on-prem databases to public cloud preferably to AWS RDS.

  • Collaborate with others to troubleshoot and resolve escalated production issues 

  • Establish and consult on best practices and standard operating procedures for development, deployment, support, break-fix, and systems management 

  • Assess usage and utilization trends to make appropriate design and implementation recommendations towards scaling our architecture 

  • 5+ years Expert knowledge of Linux / Unix / Windows systems

  • Experience working on or leading teams performing systems automation and integration (ideally leveraging an agile methodology / lean techniques)

  • Experience with production systems and dealing with production issues

  • A clear understanding of cloud service and deployment model

Desired Characteristics:

  • Expertise in Oracle RAC, Oracle Exadata and Oracle stand-alone administration

  • Experience in working on other data platform such as Kafka, Cassandra and DynamoDB, MySQL

  • Responsible for architecting, implementing, and maintaining automation tools to reduce time and complexity of operations and development tasks

  • Collaborate with others to troubleshoot and resolve escalated production issues

  • Establish and consult on best practices and standard operating procedures for development, deployment, support, break-fix, and systems management

  • Deploy and support automation systems and tooling in a 24×7 production environment

  • Assess usage and utilization trends to make appropriate design and implementation recommendations towards scaling our architecture

Grade/Level: 12

The salary range for this position is 100,000.00 - 200,000.00 USD Annual

Salaries are adjusted according to market in CA and Metro NY and some positions are bonus eligible.

Eligibility Requirements:

  • You must be 18 years or older

  • You must have a high school diploma or equivalent

  • You must be willing to take a drug test, submit to a background investigation and submit fingerprints as part of the onboarding process

  • You must be able to satisfy the requirements of Section 19 of the Federal Deposit Insurance Act.

  • New hires (Level 4-7) must have 9 months of continuous service with the company before they are eligible to post on other roles.  Once this new hire time in position requirement is met, the associate will have a minimum 6 months’ time in position before they can post for future non-exempt roles.  Employees, level 8 or greater, must have at least 24 months’ time in position before they can post.  All internal employees must consistently meet performance expectations and have approval from your manager to post (or the approval of your manager and HR if you don’t meet the time in position or performance expectations).
