Major and established international manufacturer has an opportunity due to a promotion at a large manufacturing complex that is high volume and automated commutable to the east of the Atlanta, GA metropolitan area for a Sr. Engineering Manager – Production. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Manages all functions of the Production Engineering department to include but not limited to continuous improvement of manufacturing processes, analysis of scrap and downtime data.
  • Manages the development of methods, tooling, labor and set up estimates for new products and revisions for existing products.
  • Assures that new equipment and tooling specifications, design, construction, and debugging are consistent with needs, commercial specifications, cost justifications, and time constraints.
  • Assures that modifications of existing equipment, tooling, and manufacturing procedures are being satisfactorily performed.
  • Recommends replacement of existing equipment and provides long-term facility planning assistance.
  • Provides engineering solutions to achieve the quality demands of the plant as it relates to production machinery, tooling and manufacturing processes.
  • Meets with Product Engineering groups and negotiate existing and new product design changes and project timetables, which will enable quality manufacturing at the lowest cost.
  • Directs process control programs with plant, manufacturing, engineering, and vendors to ensure products can be economically maintained and to ensure product final acceptance to the customer.
  • Supports Production and Maintenance departments as needed to prevent missed shipments and quality defects to customers.
  • Tracks Production Engineering activities and ensures that deadlines are met.
  • Reports status of Production Engineering department KPI’s to Executive Management.
  • Develops operating budgets and administers approved budgets. Reports against operating budgets.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field with minimum of 10 years engineering experience, preferably in automotive manufacturing.
  • Managerial experience including at least three years supervising Engineering and/or Technical personnel, or at least five years of managing projects which involve leading multiple team members. E
  • Experience with CNC machining and automated assembly processes, tooling, and equipment.
  • Experience with process preparation for new product launches, including APQP and PPAP documentation.
  • Effective communication skills, both oral and written to Associates of all levels.
  • Comprehensive understanding of manufacturing process costs.
  • Familiar with maintenance work, plant engineering, and utilities.
  • Familiar with process capability (Cp, Cpk, Pp, Ppk) analysis and quality tools for process improvement.
  • Familiar with TS16949, ISO14000, and OSHA regulations.
  • Must be proficient in MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Some 2D and 3D CAD experience preferred.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Manage Production Engineering Associates, including hiring, training, counseling and discipline, performance appraisal, and assigning/prioritizing all work for subordinates.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Required to sit or stand and move about the facility. Occasional lifting of items not to exceed 50 lbs.
