Job Summary and Qualifications

This cohort will start on February 6, 2023.

Accelerate your nursing career by joining our Specialty Training Apprenticeship for Registered Nurses (StaRN) program! We invite new graduate registered nurses to apply for a unique opportunity to have didactic and clinical training by HealthTrust (a part of the HCA family). The number of StaRN's and units will depend on the needs of the facility. 

12-16 week training for RN's.

5-6 Weeks of didactic, including interactive classroom discussion with experienced StaRN Instructors.

During the training time (first 5-6 weeks), the schedule will be Monday- Friday, with 40 hour work weeks. Most days will be in typical business hours (8 AM- 5 PM). After this training period, the shifts will transition to either 8 or 12 hours shifts, depending on the unit.

Summary of RN Responsibilities: Responsible for planning, executing and evaluating care given to patients. Has patient contact, monitors the activities of all nursing staff, demonstrates clinical skills, and serves as team leader on-call emergency situations.

 

SCHEDULE: Full-time, SHIFT: Varies based on the needs of each unit with rotating weekends.

POSITION SUMMARY:

Under general supervision, provides clinically competent professional nursing care.

The Registered Nurse is responsible for patient assessment, development, implementation and coordination of the patients’ plan of care including the medical treatment plan and the evaluation of patient treatment. The Registered Nurse will function within the full scope of the RN licensure, according to the California Nursing Practice Act.

The Registered Nurse has primary accountability for monitoring patient outcomes. As the team coordinator of the patient care team (including but not limited to: physicians, registered nurses, licensed vocational nurses, technicians, and support and clerical staff), the Registered Nurse collaborates, directs, delegates, assigns, guides and serves as a resource to the department and the patient care team for patient care delivery.

The Registered Nurse promotes a cooperative working relationship with care team members, physicians, other disciplines and the public by facilitating and enhancing communication, displaying honesty and respect, displaying sensitivity to cultural and age differences, and expressing and accepting feedback in a professional manner.

What qualifications you will need:


  • Graduate of an Accredited School of Nursing, BSN preferred.

  • Acceptance into the program requires a two-year commitment to West Hills Medical Center

  • Self-motivated and strong communication skills required

  • Training will include BLS/ACLS certification

  • Must be licensed by the state of California prior to scheduling an interview

  • Acquires required contact hours to maintain license

  • Independently maintains license

  • Candidates may not have previous acute care experience

  • This is for graduates within the previous 12 - 18 months
