Primary Purpose

The Sustainability Coordinator works to assist the Director of Sustainability & Energy in the assessment, development and implementation of Sustainable and Energy Efficient initiatives that are representative of Parkland Hospital and Health System¿s core values.

Minimum Specifications

Education

  • Must have Bachelors Degree in Business Administration, Healthcare Management or a related Sustainability field.

Experience

  • Must have 2 years of sustainability or energy management experience
  • Experience must include in-depth coordination with multiple function areas and or departments.

Equivalent Education and/or Experience

  • May have an equivalent combination of education and experience to substitute for both the education and the experience requirements.

CERTIFICATIONS/Registration/Licensure

  • Must have (or achieve within 18 months of placement) certification as a Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) certification issued by the Green Business Certification Inc. (GBCI). Current incumbents in the job as of December 15, 2020 must obtain no later than June 15, 2022.

Skills or Special Abilities

  • Must have knowledge of Sustainability and Energy Management methods and techniques as related to procurement, invoicing and financial controls.
  • Must be able to analyze data collected to prepare presentations for project procurement activities.
  • Must be able to perform mathematical computations.
  • Must be able to demonstrate knowledge and skills to operate computer and various software packages.
  • Must possess effective organizational, time management and problem solving skills.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.

Responsibilities

1. Conducts periodic site inspections, as assigned, to assess opportunities or efficiencies of Parkland Hospital¿s Sustainability and Energy Management initiatives. Ensures follow-up and report of findings.

2. Assists with Environment of Care rounds to ensure sustainable practices are in the workplace.

3. Maintains waste disposal records to ensure documentation is current at all times.

4. Assists with studies on Sustainability and or Energy Efficiency issues/problems within work environment and implements possible resolutions to ensure Sustainability and or Energy Efficiency in the work place.

5. Assists in gathering of data and interpretation of Energy, Waste Stream and Usage statistics to develop reports for distribution to Parkland committees and departments.
