Job Description
Provide day-to-day support to the organizationsf end user desktop computers, printers, phones, mobile devices, and software. Manages Desktop Administration related servers, manages Desktop Administration related projects and implementations, and researches new technologies for solutions to existing and future issues. This position interfaces directly with internal customers and various departments, troubleshooting user issues to resolution. Other areas of responsibility include but are not limited to assisting other IT departments with various tasks, providing Time and Attendance support to external customers as needed, and support of Audio/Visual equipment such as projectors, and sound systems.
RESPONSIBILITIES
SYSTEM MAINTENANCE
- Delegate duties and tasks within the IT department.
- Review completed tasks to ascertain compliance with standards.
- Monitor all team members and provide necessary advice and guidance.
- Perform periodic risk assessments and initiate risk control strategies.
- Coach all team members and motivate them to produce desired results.
- Organize regular seminars and trainings to teach team members new techniques and methods.
- Keep up with trends in the constantly evolving information technology industry.
- Perform regular IT audit to discover areas of weaknesses and fortify them.
- Work alongside other departments to achieve company goals and visions.
- Write and forward regular reports to the management.
- Provide solution to any complex IT related challenges in the organization.
- Perform regular appraisal of team members performance and devise strategies to help with improvement.
- Carry out in-depth research to reveal new and better methods of handling functions within the department.
- Ensure that the companys data and information are protected from unauthorized access.
- Supervise repair and maintenance of all IT equipment
- Meets financial requirements by submitting information for budgets; monitoring expenses.
- Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; participating in professional organizations.
- Protects organization's value by keeping information confidential.
- Accomplishes organization goals by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.
- Responsible for managing the performance of at least 2 or more direct reports. This includes:
- Holding regular one-on-one meetings with the employee to discuss the employees performance/metrics and for continuous development of employees.
- Makes strong recommendations to department leaders regarding the employees performance in relation to development and performance reviews and compensation.
- Manages the employees performance including coaching, performance improvement plans, counselings and makes strong recommendations regarding employee separations.
DOCUMENTATION
- Documents specific duties, activities, problems solved and issues resolved
- Assists in the documentation of the network, applications and resources on the network in conjunction with the public service staff.
- Train team members in the Paycom infrastructure and best practices.
MISCELLANEOUS
- Attends meetings and serves on committees, as requested
- Ability to listen to team members and communicate instructions effectively.
- Ability to lead, direct and control team members.
- Ability to handle multiple jobs at the same time.
- In-depth knowledge of computer usage and programming.
- Excellent presentation skills.
- Ability to always pay attention to details and encourage team members to do same.
- Ability to take proactive steps in managing problems.
- Must be very security conscious and do all it takes to avoid sensitive data falling into wrong hands.
- Ability to effectively handle stress, pressures, and challenges.
- Have in-depth knowledge of management goals and visions and work in line with team members to achieve them.
- Performs additional duties and assignments as requested
Education/Certification:
- Bachelor Degree required
- High School graduate required
Experience Required:
- 5+ years of Desktop Administration
Knowledge of:
- Desktop Administration
- Computer, network operations and maintenance
- LAN/WANs
- Microsoft Windows XP/7/10 Operating Systems
- Microsoft Server 2003/2008/2012 Operating Systems
- Basic Linux knowledge
- Emerging technology trends
Skills and Abilities:
- Evaluate critical systems, prioritize workflow and determine solutions
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Interpret and apply laws, regulations and policies
- Read and understand technical manuals
- Work for extended time at keyboard/terminal
- Maintain effective working relationships with supervisor and coworkers
- Work flexible hours, including weekends and evenings
