Position Overview
The Technical Writer will be responsible for end-user documents and videos in accordance with the company’s strategies and standards. They will work closely with subject matter experts to understand the technical information and interpret it accurately to create operating manuals, user guides, quick reference material, application and technical notes, training materials, etc. The position requires overseeing publications from initiation to release.
Essential Job Responsibilities:
- Guide the Technical Publications team in the development of documents, videos and other communications in support of the INFICON brand, its products and technologies.
- Work with product engineering, development, customer support, product marketing teams and others to produce well-written, error-free materials, that allow our customers to succeed in learning about and using our products.
- Train users on the structured authoring tool.
- Oversee translation supplier.
- Identify and remove roadblocks that compromise technical documentation deadlines.
- Assure procedures and work instructions are up-to-date and in accordance with required standards and Quality (ISO9001) guidelines.
- Assure project source files and records of work and revisions are maintained and easily accessible.
- Assure the company grammar standards are up-to-date and easily accessible.
- Analyze process flow and research best practices for continuous improvement.
- Other projects as required.
Required Qualifications:
- A Bachelor of Science Degree in Technical Communication, Engineering, Science, OR other related technical disciplines.
- 3+ years experience writing and editing product documentation in a collaborative environment.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills required, as well as exceptional attention to detail and proofreading abilities.
- Experience with project management required.
- Proficiency with structured authoring.
- Proven experience with video creation, editing and publishing.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, quickly changing technical environment.
- Experience using Adobe Creative Suite.
