JOB SUMMARY
Part-Time
Sign on Bonus- $1,500
Transports residents to and from appointments and activities. Under the immediate supervision of the Unit Coordinator, provides personal care and service to residents to ensure their safety, comfort, and well-being. Duties are performed in accordance with recognized standards and techniques.
PERFORMANCE REQUIREMENTS
Responsibilities for Transportation:
1. Operate, drive and transport residents to and from various locations in Wesley Tower's vehicles.
2. Obey all traffic laws.
3. Carry communication device to maintain contact with Wesley Towers during times of transport.
4. Check appointment schedules and assignments daily with front desk and supervisor.
5. Respond to resident inquiries, requests and complaints relating to transportation services within scope of authority and refer unresolved matters to supervisor.
6. Work with social services department and unit clerks to arrange resident transportation needs (i.e., sitting, family involvement, etc.)
7. Shift assignments may change according to residents’ needs, must be flexible to meet their needs.
8. Work every other holiday.
9. Monitor condition of equipment/vehicles and report malfunctions to supervisor/front desk.
QUALIFICATIONS
1. Current operator's license from Kansas Department of Transportation.
2. Must have current Kansas CNA certification.
3. Must be able to read, write, speak and understand the English language.
4. Must be capable of understanding and following oral and written instructions.
5. High school diploma desirable.
6. Previous experience in geriatric care desired.
7. Ability to communicate with team members and residents.
8. Positive attitude toward the ill and the elderly.
Special Demands:
Must be flexible as schedule changes. Willingness to work with the realization that errors or incompetence can cause serious consequences for the resident. Must have patience and tact and be able to communicate effectively with residents, families, and other staff members. Must have good eyesight to observe residents and to give nursing care, read thermometers, and to complete documentation. Can hear normal and soft tones to hear resident calls. Be aware that working with residents with dementia may expose staff to residents who become violent, combative, or aggressive without notice or provocation. It is important for all staff to respond in appropriate manner, remaining calm and non-threatening. Must be able to distinguish smells. Is familiar with and capable of operating all special equipment utilized for the benefit of the residents within health care.
