Job Description

Performs diagnostic general and vascular ultrasound examinations, coordinates, schedules, and performs other duties as assigned, necessary for operation of ultrasound department.

• Perform all ultrasound examinations according to department protocols and ACR standards.  Uses proper imaging techniques and equipment to obtain scans of optimal quality.
• Responsible for documenting pertinent history for each procedure in order to provide the radiologist with adequate information prior to interpretation.
• Compliance with adherence with established department safety standards to ensure patient's and staff's well being at all time to include proper established safety procedures for all health workers, patients and visitors.  Monitors safety compliance with safety rules; generate written documentation/incident reports relative to safety issues to insure patient safety and quality patient care.
• Provides technical support for smooth and efficient operation of Ultrasound Department.
• Responsible for staying abreast of current ultrasound skills and new developments in the field of ultrasound.
• Provision of instruction and orientation to students, technologists, and new technologists to effectively participate in the assessment of their performance reviews.
• Participation in problem-solving issues addressing patients, department operations, quality assurance procedures, interdepartmental relationships and employee morale.
