ARGENTUM is the leading national trade association serving companies that own, operate, and support professionally managed senior living communities in the United States.


We are seeking a Vice President, Workforce Development, to join our team. This position reports to the Senior Vice President, Business Operations, and is responsible for overseeing and managing all workforce development initiatives for Argentum. The Vice President, Workforce Development, will work closely with appropriate committees, workgroups, the Argentum Board of Vice Presidents' task forces, senior management teams, and the Argentum Workforce Development Committee.


This position requires identifying and deploying key workforce development metrics and research, recommending strategies for increasing recruitment opportunities of senior living employees, and enhancing employee professionalism. The Vice President, Workforce Development, works closely with the Argentum Workforce Development Committee and Subcommittees and with organizations, educators, and other external stakeholders, and will be charged to seek funding and/or grant opportunities to advance workforce within the industry. The Vice President, Workforce Development is expected to become the internal subject matter expert on workforce items within the industry and lend support to other association initiatives such as education and training. The Vice President, Workforce Development, will also engage with the Argentum Public Policy team related to policy-oriented solutions to address industry workforce challenges.


Specific responsibilities include:


The candidate will assist the industry in navigating the challenges and embracing the opportunities related to workforce development. The goal is to create the environment to recruit & retain 1.4 million employees through 2025, with the following strategies currently outlined.


  • Enhance and Assist Employee Development and Career Progression through oversight of the Healthcare Apprenticeship Expansion Program (HAEP) Grant and other career progression initiatives.
  • Increase Investment in Workforce Development Initiatives through grants, underwriting, academic partnerships, association/NGO partnerships, etc.
  • Manage Workforce Pipeline through industry career pathways, Argentum's Ambassador program, the Vision 2025 partnership, and through public policy means (in coordination with the Public Policy Team).
  • Manage and Disseminate Workforce Metrics through best-in-class resources on employment, retention, recruitment, and return on investment and by providing actionable data on workforce trends and statistics to guide hiring practices and industry planning.
  • Enhance Industry Professionalism through considerations for training programs and mentorship opportunities.

  • Leadership Advancement & Development (LEAD) Program
  • Senior Living Works microsite and industry resources (career center, education pipeline, workforce resources/toolkits)

Desired Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree.
  • At least ten years of experience with industry workforce development programs.
  • At least five years of management experience with workforce development programs.
  • Demonstrated oversight experience with a federal grant, preferably a DOL grant.
  • Experience identifying drivers of engagement, benchmarks, and best practices.
  • Experience in assembling industry career and job information, including job progressions.
  • Experience in identifying career training and professional development opportunities and managing partnerships with universities, technical schools, community colleges, and high schools.
  • Experience in working with federal and state workforce development boards.
  • Ability to aggregate and analyze labor and workforce statistics.
  • Experience with developing career outreach and awareness campaigns for industry jobs promotion.
  • Experience working with subject matter experts applicable to workforce development and conducting subject matter expert meetings.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and spoken.


ARGENTUM is conveniently located at 1650 King Street, Alexandria, VA 22314 near the King Street Metro. We offer a competitive salary and benefits package, including options for teleworking, summer days office closings, and a week off between the December holidays. Due to COVID, this position is currently remote with limited in-office days set to begin April 4.
