The University of Nebraska Medical Center (UNMC) invites applications and nominations for the position of Vice Chancellor for Business, Finance and Business Development (VCBFBD). The senior business officer at UMNC, the Vice Chancellor reports to the Chancellor and is responsible for oversight and administration of all finance, operational and administrative services, including shared services with Nebraska Medicine. The VCBFBD also plays a key role partnering with the business and philanthropic community to advance projects that benefit UNMC and the community.
As Nebraska’s only public academic health sciences center, the University of Nebraska Medical Center has a mission to improve the health of Nebraskans through premier educational programs, innovative research, high-quality patient care and outreach to underserved populations. UNMC is home to six colleges and two institutes. UNMC’s primary care program was recently ranked sixth in the nation by U.S. News & World Report, and the physician assistant program tied for 15th. The campus’ physical therapy, pharmacy, and nursing master’s programs continue to be ranked among the top in the country. On the research side, UNMC is the home of dedicated scientists who work at the forefront of fields such as transplant medicine, cancer, neurodevelopment, and genomics. UNMC has goals to strategically grow funded research, develop globally recognized research programs, and improve the health of Nebraskans.
The University of Nebraska seeks an innovative and strategic leader with a broad vision for achieving institutional excellence as UNMC grows. The successful candidate will have a strong record of managing change within a complex environment with many stakeholders. An understanding of all facets of academic enterprises, including an understanding of how financial decisions impact the academic environment (and vice versa) is desirable. This position represents an unparalleled opportunity for a proven leader to strategically lead and enhance the financial infrastructure, support, and planning at UNMC. The UNMC business and finance units have approximately 396 employees. The combined operating budget of the units is approximately $56 million.
