What you will have an opportunity to do:

As part of the Property Operations team, the Painter / Carpenter at the Abbey resort, along with maintenance team members, are responsible for identifying facility problems and correcting them. You will aid in helping keep the resort not only functional but esthetically pleasing to the eyes of all our guests. Your job may require you to work on several different projects. This gives you an exciting change to the pace of your job every day.

Your Role:

  • Resolves guest’s problems and handles all guest requests.
  • Identifies problems, initiates work orders, accomplished assigned work orders and does all necessary repairs.
  • Performs preventative maintenance and maintains logs in an organized manner.
  • Make on-site preparations for building scaffolding and the covering of fixtures and fill cracks and holes with appropriate material like plaster.
  • Prepare walls and other surfaces for painting by using sandpaper, scraping and removing old paint, painting and re-painting.
  • Woodwork touchups including repairing and refinishing wood and drywall surfaces.
  • Preventative maintenance for the construction and repair of carpentry items. (For example: desks, shelves, cabinets, walls, ceilings, and walls etc.).
  • Hanging wallpaper.
  • Installing tiles and grouting.
  • Identifying and matching paint and stain colors.
  • Performs preventative maintenance and maintains logs in an organized manner.
  • Responsible for correct use of office equipment, EMS system and Life Safety Systems, (training provided).
  • Designing and constructing furniture.
  • Purchasing materials and maintaining inventory.

Your Environment:  Works in all areas of the property, both indoors and outdoors possible in inclement weather. Variety of surfaces and must be able to work at various heights on ladders, roofs, etc.

What are we looking for?

The right person will be show excellent customer service skills, must be passionate about service and should thoroughly enjoy creating excellent experiences for our customers. Attention to detail and excellent communication skills are a must!

In addition, the right candidate match should have or be able to:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Two – Four years experience in a similar job in the hospitality industry is preferred.
  • Ability to use hand tools and power tools.
  • Ability to hang wallpaper.
  • Ability to repair and paint drywall and other surfaces using rollers, brushes and spray gun.
  • Abilities to remove, construct, repair, and refinish carpentry items.  (i.e. ceilings, walls, floors, furniture, etc.)
  • Ability to install tiles and grout.
  • Ability to refinish woodwork requiring staining, varnishing, and lacquering.
  • Knack for working under pressure in a fast-paced environment
  • Someone who is available to work various shifts to include weekends and holidays
  • Ability to walk, stand, reach, crouch, bend, push/pull throughout duration of shift.
  • Ability to lift, push, pull, carry up to 50 lbs.
