Title: Tax Manager
Location: Greater Nashville area

Your Role as the Tax Manager:

Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Provide and manage excellent customer service
- Be aware of the client’s journey
- Be aware of the client’s challenges
- Lead in the development and implementation of tax processing procedures
- Lead in the development and implementation of project management processes and tools
- Coordinate with IT administrator in applying technical and software needs as related to accounting/tax processes and project management
- Coordinate with Tax administrator regarding filing deadlines and project assignments
- Coordinate with Firm Administrator/Controller with staff and invoicing issues
- Evaluate annual renewal of accounting and tax applications
- Research new software applications as needed
- Participate in staff recruiting efforts and interview of applicants
- Assist with staff development and annual tax staff evaluations
- Assist partners with new business development and merger/acquisition planning as required
- Direct/delegate projects to staff that can handle them most efficiently.
- Review accounting and tax projects
- Sign tax returns
- Supervise staff and seniors assigned to projects and manage time and project completion within budget
- Provide accounting and tax research and documentation as needed
- Identify problems, propose and implement solutions to firm related matters
- Prepare level 4 accounting and tax engagements
- Research and resolve IRS notices and examinations
- Develop ways to improve utilization, realization and efficiency in firm
- Maintain and improve accounting and tax processing procedures as applicable
- Prepare invoices for clients as needed
- Assist with collections as needed
- Meet utilization and realization standards personally and for managed client relationships
- Mentor and train other staff members by providing guidance and serving as a professional role model
- Proactively interact with clients to gather information, resolve problems, and make recommendations for business and process improvements
- Evaluate staff and participate in annual reviews
- Monitor compliance with firm quality control procedures
- Coordinate with partners regarding staff and firm matters
- Develop new client relationships
- Evolve existing client relationships
- Available to work during normal business hours
- Ability and willingness to work overtime, after hours and/or weekends as needed to meet business demands with prior manager approval
- Adhere to all firm policies
- Promote and demonstrate a sound understanding of firm purpose, brand promise and core values
- Complete special projects as required
Technical Skills:
- Advanced knowledge of tax laws
- Expert ability to apply tax knowledge to client problems
- Able to read and understand technical forms and financial reports
- Proficiency with research tools
- Sound understanding of business of accounting rather than practice of accounting
- Strong understanding of all firm services
- Strong understanding of firm’s marketing plan and practice
Background Profile for the Tax Manager:
- CPA License current and in good standing
- 7+ or more years of related experience
- Demonstrated ability to plan and organize projects
- Proficiency in CS Professional Suite and Microsoft Office Suite
