Jordan's Furniture, the premier furniture and mattress retailer in New England, and a wholly owned subsidiary of Berkshire Hathaway, is seeking a creative, talented, go getter to be an Assistant Director of Store Design. This newly created position will work closely with the Director of Store Design in developing and coordinating new design projects from concept through final implementation. • Works closely with Director of Store Design to determine design preferences, purpose, and function of projects
• Plans space layout, placement of furniture and equipment, color schemes and color coordination
• Designs, draws, and creates specifications for layout needed for construction and renovation of store related projects utilizing computerized drawing program. (AutoCAD)
• Recommends materials to be used in construction including lighting, flooring, paint colors, fixtures, etc.
• Assists Director in selecting and purchasing accessories
• Studies new trends and design ideas to assist in the development of new projects
• Manages project to assure adherence to the budget, deadlines, plans and specifications
• Oversees store design projects to ensure “look” is uniform
• Works with store designers to maintain proper accessorizing in all stores and to develop showroom related projects; evaluates and gives feedback on showroom appearance
• Travels to all locations and furniture/accessories markets as needed

• BA/BS in Interior Design
• 5-7 years in retail store design              
• Proficient in using Auto CAD
• Excellent interpersonal skills needed
• Effective oral and written communication skills
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
• Project management skills
• Ability to think out of the box
• Current portfolio of design work and any samples of prepared auto cad documents for construction
