Northwestern Medical Center's mission is to provide exceptional healthcare for our community and we are currently recruiting for a Full-time Blood Bank Specialist opportunity.

EXPECTED HOURS/SHIFT: Full-Time (80 hours bi-weekly), primarily days, at least two weekends per month.

JOB SUMMARY:

The Medical Technologist serves under the general direction of the Laboratory Director to organize and coordinate the clinical functions of an assigned Section. Works independently, organizing work to meet workload demands. Performs clinical testing in all Laboratory areas. In the absence of the Laboratory Director and Assistant Manager is responsible for coordinating the day to day operation of the Laboratory.
Performs significant Administrative Duties (see “Administrative Functions”).
Adheres to hospital policies and procedures including but not limited to safety, fire, disaster plans, and infection control.

PREREQUISITES

Education: Nationally recognized certification credentials or equivalent. Baccalaureate degree in Medical Technology or a baccalaureate in a related science with approved Clinical Laboratory Scientist training is preferred. Non-traditional route to established skills level may be accepted after review of education and experience.

Experience: Four years working in a Clinical Laboratory as a medical Technologist (MT or CLS). One year of Laboratory experience at NMC preferred. Proven technical skill and initiative. Proven ability to function in a team oriented environment.

Other: The Medical Technologist must possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
