Northwestern Medical Center's mission is to provide exceptional healthcare for our community and we are currently recruiting for a Regular Part-time Medical Technologist / Point of Care Technologist opportunity.

EXPECTED HOURS/SHIFT:  Regular Part-Time (64 hours bi-weekly), varied shifts, to include up to two weekends per month.

JOB SUMMARY: 
The Med Tech II Point of Care Technologist is responsible for the implementation and oversight of all point-of-care testing performed in-house and at NMC owned practices. Works independently, organizing work to meet job requirements. A solid comprehension of the principles of laboratory and point-of-care-testing is essential.  Assist with training and competency assessments for non-laboratory personnel performing CLIA waived and PPM testing.  Performs clinical testing in all Laboratory areas and is available to work all shifts. Adheres to hospital and Laboratory policies and procedures including but not limited to safety, fire, disaster plans and infection control.
 
PREREQUISITES
  • Education: Nationally recognized certification credentials or equivalent.  Baccalaureate degree in Medical Technology, Clinical Laboratory Science, or a baccalaureate in a related science with approved Clinical Laboratory Scientist training is preferred.  Non-traditional route to established skills level may be accepted after review of education and experience.
  • Experience: 

    Four years working in Clinical Laboratory. Proven above average technical skill and initiative. Proven ability to function in a team-oriented environment.
Other: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, ability to effectively work with all levels of users in all areas of the organization, and task oriented.  Driver’s license: travel to remote sites, reference labs, and hospital clinics may be required.
