Summary
The Business Intelligence Analyst holds accountability for partnering with stakeholders across the business to drive Genworth Australia’s strategy through the design and delivery of meaningful reporting, analytics and operational insights using visual analytics.

Responsibilities
The main responsibilities include:
Data Capture & Reporting
• Partner with stakeholders across the business to identify and drive the capture of relevant Enterprise data in a consistent and accurate manner from internal and external sources to facilitate reporting, monitoring and analysis
• Support the creation of business reports and presentations to key stakeholders (Senior Leadership Team, Customer, Regulator)
• Own the provision of regular Enterprise reports, including clear analysis of emerging trends with a focus on cause / effect relationships and recommendations
• Adopt a continuous improvement approach to review and redevelop reports to ensure these remain relevant to dynamic changes in the business
 

Analysis & Monitoring
• Identify trends and drivers that influence Operations and Technologies results, customer service and process effectiveness
• Own the delivery of detailed analysis to identify root causes to problems and model potential solutions using statistically valid methods
• Support Enterprise leaders and operational managers by providing analytical support and advice to investigate potential opportunities and issues
• Support Enterprise leaders and operational managers in developing visual analytics and control dashboard systems
• Support business and operational improvement to determine costs / benefits of projects, initiatives and change

Information Sharing & Improvements
• Own and drive the automation of reporting and metrics
• Proactively interact and share knowledge with the other analysis teams within Operations and Genworth
• Review methodologies and techniques with both internal and external analytical constituents to ensure continual improvement and development
• Adhere to the compliance obligations relevant to your position; perform your duties in an ethical, lawful and safe manner; undertake training as directed by the Compliance Leader; report and escalate compliance concerns, issues and failures; and disclose potential conflicts of interest.

Qualifications – Required
• At least 5 years in an analytical role
• At least 5 years’ experience of working in financial services (banking or insurance preferred)
• Minimum of a Bachelors degree (Business, Statistics, Computer Science or IT preferred)
• Excellent technical and programming skills, particularly with regard to SAS coding and data mining (advanced); Excel (advanced); SQL (preferred)
• Strong understanding of the use of visual analytics tools like Tableau, Power BI to promote the use of guided analytics
• Strong understanding of open source tools such as Python or Knime.
• Good understanding of data repository systems (business intelligence infrastructures)
• Highly motivated; capable of multitasking, and able to work independently when required
• Good business acumen, with experience of working with senior management to analyse and improve the business
• Improvement mindset, with proven ability to affect change
• Strong interpersonal skills with proven ability to influence and collaborate
• Ability to manage multiple priorities, whilst delivering quality outcomes to deadline
• Ability to be innovative, creative and think ‘outside the box’
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with strong presentation skills
• Advanced capabilities with appropriate MS software (e.g. PowerPoint; Visio; Excel)
• Ability to translate complex subject matter to wide ranging audiences
