Primary Purpose Parkland Community Health Plan's (PCHP's) Database Administrator (DBA) will ensure the performance, integrity, and security of PCHP's data warehouse. The DBA will be involved in the planning and development of the data warehouse as well as securing the data. The DBA will be responsible for managing and performing production code releases and will collaborate with various internal and external resources on system enhancements and database performance troubleshooting.

Minimum Specifications Education - High School diploma or equivalent is required. - Bachelor's degree in computer science, management information systems, information technology, statistics, mathematics, or related discipline is preferred.

Experience -

Five years of professional Microsoft SQL Server database administration experience.

Five years of experience working with SSIS and SSRS.  

Five years of experience in troubleshooting, performance tuning, and optimizing database solutions for multi-terabyte databases.

Two years of experience writing and optimizing SQL and PL/SQL queries, and automating, scripting, and streamlining processes for efficiency and accuracy.

Experience using a development operations lifecycle tool (e.g. GitHub or GitLab), and DBA case tools (frontend/backend).

Experience with data replication, database security, encryption, compression and data masking/redaction is preferred.

Experience with Data Vault 2.0 Architecture is preferred.

Experience working with health care data is preferred.

Skills or Special Abilities - Working knowledge of SSIS, SSRS, and core database concepts. - Knowledge of database modeling concepts including relational and dimensional data modeling and ability to partner with data warehouse developers in defining standards and best practices. - Advanced knowledge of database security, backup and recovery, and performance monitoring standards. - Familiarity with database design, documentation, and coding. - Ability to work with Development teams on DB architecture and design. - Excellent verbal and written communication and documentation skills. - Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple competing projects and deadlines. - Flexibility in working hours in line with project deadlines. - Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively and work as part of a team in a fast-changing environment.

Responsibilities - Manages production releases and performs SSIS package deployments to the production server. - Develops, documents, and enforces database standards, policies, and procedures including access and security. - Monitors database performance and performs trouble shooting to solve issues relative to the current environment and architecture. - Identifies areas for improvement with the infrastructure and collaborates with our Hospital System resources, vendors, and data warehouse development team to implement improvements. - Assists the Data Engineers and Data Architects in developing the Data Warehouse and implementing additional data interfaces. - Manages database access. - Performs tests and evaluations regularly to ensure data security, privacy, and integrity. - Identifies methods to better handle data and increase system efficiency including assisting developers with writing more complex and optimized queries, changing data structure, and automating tasks to decrease development time.
