Responsible to the assigned supervisor for performing intermediate or senior level engineering work activities and projects requiring the application of engineering knowledge in a safe, effective, efficient and economic accomplishment of assigned objectives.


TFS T-Line Technical Services
Engineering Technologist – Engineering Technologist Sr

T-line Asset Engineering Technologists are located in each of the 5 Transmission Field Services Line Regions to develop, plan, and support the execution of the maintenance and capital work plan for TFS.  This position serves to apply engineering and technical skillsets to assist the T-Line areas in developing and prioritizing capital rehab work plans.  This also includes performing structure condition evaluations, evaluating circuit performance, determining potential solutions, and obtaining capital funding. 
Asset Engineering Technologists are also responsible for developing yearly asset inspection and maintenance plans and maintaining asset conditions, compliance reporting, and key progress metrics. 
Some other core responsibilities include, but not limited to developing line maintenance standards, managing annual Preventative Maintenance planning process, and oversee the deployment of t-line asset data programs.
The Asset Engineering Technologist conducts analysis and identifies corrective actions to address line performance issues, evaluates and sponsors requests for line relocations and other capital projects, manages emergency transmission line stock, prepares utility commission reports, monitors industry advancements and participates in research efforts, participates in and influences activities pertaining to industry codes and standards, and assists in major storm restoration as needed in accordance with the ICS process.

Technical Expertise
 
  • Possesses journey level knowledge of Transmission Lines and perform varied assignments with proficiency in the application of theory and analytical techniques to solve diverse problems and complete extensive analysis.
  • Exhibits ability to understand interrelationship between transmission lines and all associated components.
  • Demonstrate ability to analyze and recommend enhancements to business processes.
  • Keeps abreast of new products, developments, technologies, procedures and equipment.

Requirements

ENGINEERING TECHNOLOGIST:
Has typically acquired 2 or more years of related experience in work activities and projects requiring the application of engineering technology principles; Bachelor's degree in engineering technology* in a program accredited by ABET**.

*A degree in engineering technology is the preferred degree: however, engineering degrees will also be considered.
**ABET - Engineering Accreditation Commission of the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology. Acceptable alternatives are
(1) a Bachelor's degree in engineering technology (non-ABET), plus a Professional Engineers (PE) license in any state of the U.S. or
(2) a Bachelor's degree in engineering technology (non-ABET) plus a Master's degree or PhD in engineering technology from a university with an ABET accredited Bachelor's program.

Physical demand level is Sedentary


ENGINEERING TECHNOLOGIST SENIOR:

Has typically acquired 6 or more years of related experience in work activities and projects requiring the application of engineering technology principles; Bachelor's degree in engineering technology* in a program accredited by ABET**.

*A degree in engineering technology is the preferred degree: however, engineering degrees will also be considered.
**ABET - Engineering Accreditation Commission of the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology. Acceptable alternatives are
(1) a Bachelor's degree in engineering technology (non-ABET), plus a Professional Engineers (PE) license in any state of the U.S. or
(2) a Bachelor's degree in engineering technology (non-ABET) plus a Master's degree or PhD in engineering technology from a university with an ABET accredited Bachelor's program.
