We are wanting to add to our team and have an opening for a Part Time LPN Charge Nurse / LPN Supervisor in our long standing, faith-based assisted living community. Every other weekend is required for this position. The LPN Charge Nurse / LPN Supervisor will work to provide quality resident care by assuring residents’ safety, physical, emotional, spiritual, and medical needs are met using excellent customer service skills. Must have Current RN, LPN or LVN license.

Essential Functions
Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
- Prepares and administers medications following infection control and safety policies.
- Documents legibly, neatly, and accurately in the resident’s chart according to community’s policies.
- Receives physician’s orders and maintains MAR according to community’s policies.
- Processes all physician’s orders, new admissions, and discharges according to community’s policies.
- Makes rounds on residents to assure their safety and that their needs are being met.
- Monitors vital signs and documents according to physician’s orders.
- Assesses residents’ medical condition after unusual occurrences and documents appropriately.
- Checks medication cart on a daily basis to assure medications are in proper order. Destroys and logs all expired, dc’d, or unused medications according to community’s policies.
- Assists residents with baths, showers, toileting, grooming and ambulating as needed.
- Maintains open, honest communication with the Health Services Director to assure a positive team environment is operating within the staff.
- Reports problems, concerns, and positive information to the Health Services Director as they occur. Assures the Health Services Director is never surprised.
- Maintains friendly, positive relationship with residents and family members. Is open to suggestions and passes them on to the Health Services Director.
- Maintains confidentiality of residents’ personal information in and out of the community and protects and supports residents’ rights.
- Provides tours to potential residents and families that are specific to the needs of the resident.
- Answers telephone promptly and professionally. Assures that caller’s needs are met or refers to the appropriate person to assist him/her.
- Assess new and existing residents, develops care plans and meets with resident and/ or family to discuss Plan of Care.
- Assist Health Services Director with on-call responsibilities.
- Assures supplies are available.
- Assists other resident care staff as needed.
- Maintains a professional appearance and demeanor that encourages a positive nurturing environment for the residents, families, vendors, and guests.
- Maintains a positive customer service environment and practices honesty and integrity in all aspects of performance.
- Other duties and projects as assigned.
Managerial Breadth/Scope of Job
Provides general oversight of direct care staff. May assume supervision of Health Services department as requested by Health Services Director or in the Health Services Directors absence
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
- Possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work in a stressful, sometimes demanding environment.
- Knowledgeable of state and federal regulations for assisted living facilities.
- Ability to teach and train resident care staff.
- Ability to schedule staff and cover shifts as needed.
- Ability to formulate and write policies and procedures.
- Ability and skills to lead others and foster an environment that is receptive to change for improvement of quality resident care.
- Possess excellent time management and prioritization skills.
- Knowledgeable of conflict resolution techniques and the skills to implement.
- Must maintain a current driver’s license and comply with all requirements of Bethesda’s Auto Policy.
Education/Experience
Education and Licensure: Current RN, LPN or LVN license, according to state guidelines. Experience: Proven, positive leadership in a geriatric care environment.
Working Environment/Physical Requirements
Environment includes residents who may have memory problems, incontinence, and need assistance with ambulation. Position may require some strenuous physical work. Heavy lifting, pushing or pulling of objects up to 100 pounds occasionally (with assistance) and/or up to 50 pounds frequently.
