Manager UX Design -Philadelphia; Must be able to work periodically in our Philadelphia office as we continue to drive innovation through UX.

Elsevier continues to grow its Health and Commercial Markets User Experience team to research and design the next generation of innovative healthcare and commercial solutions. We now require an experienced UX Design Manager to lead, mentor and grow a talented team of UX designers who create world-class user experiences for our clinical healthcare products. Key Responsibilities

As a Manager of UX Design you will manage people with a range of responsibilities and the organization's user-centered design strategy across a portfolio of projects. You will lead the training of the team and will be responsible for hiring and mentorship.

  • Accountable for UX delivery across a portfolio of projects
  • Accountable to govern the implementation of HCM UX best practices/process across their team
  • Ensure UX work gets planned properly including the correct people, timelines, and approach
  • Responsible to drive employee engagement, conduct performance reviews, coach/mentor staff, and help staff with career development.
  • Negotiate with partner teams to plan UX roles, expectations, and responsibilities at the project level
  • Coach team members in best practices for customer-focused discovery and development
  • Help align the cross-functional product development team to ensure customer needs are met
  • Promote UX best practices across the technology and product organization
  • Ensure the team is working with a set of design principles and style guides which reinforce the company brand
  • Ensure the team makes appropriate use of data in establishing KPIs and testing strategy
  • Oversee the testing of design work with users and partner closely with other disciplines to engage them in the process
  • Ensure the team is producing designs for all relevant platforms and devices
  • Work with other managers to collaborate on UX best practices and initiatives which help build common operation across the wider team
  • Work with other managers to drive a common team vision and build an engaging and supportive team culture

Required Qualifications

  • Experience (6-9 years) working in UX, with at least 3 of those years managing a UX design team
  • Demonstrated experience building engaged teams, hiring great people, developing people, managing performance, and leading change
  • Exceptional emotional intelligence, listening and personal interaction skills
  • A passion for leading a team that builds easy to use, delightful user experiences
  • Experience designing for complex web and mobile applications backed up by an online portfolio of past UX deliverables
  • Expert knowledge of UX and interaction design best-practices and patterns

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working with health-related products
  • Experience working with UX in an agile software development environment
  • Experience conducting or helping to conduct user research and usability studies
