Who are we?

Represents Hawk’s Cay Resort in all facets of marketing, advertising and media relations. This includes but is not limited to: writing and distributing news releases, developing and implementing local publicity initiatives, handling press inquiries, designing resort newsletters, coordinating press itineraries, entertaining and assisting media and overseeing coordination of marketing and media relations materials.

What you will have an opportunity to do:

Duties & Responsibilities:

Responsible for developing and implementing local publicity initiatives -- to position the resort favorably in the local community.  Projects a community identity for the resort through participation in community and charity projects as well as social, educational and industry events.  Assists staff members involved in community efforts with speech writing, talking points and other needed support.

Handle media requests for information.  Provide materials to press in response to editorial calendars, direct inquiries and similar resources.

Develop editorial and feature story opportunities.  Research, write and distribute news releases.

Assist in the coordination of media relations activities – including press trips, media development missions and special publicity events.

Assist with crisis and emergency situations.

Entertain and assist visiting media representatives.

Maintain media database, collateral, press kits and other marketing/media relations materials.

Produce bi-monthly media relations report – including measuring ad equivalency of coverage.

Assists with communications and material development support for other departments (i.e.: internal/external newsletters, audio/visual training aids and other materials).

Always positions the resort favorably with all internal and external audiences – with a focus on generating employee and public support for the resort, generating increased positive exposure for the resort and creating revenue opportunities.

What are we looking for?

Experience, Skills and Knowledge

  • Hotel experience preferred.
  • High School Diploma, Bachelor's Degree preferred.
  • Basic administrative knowledge such as business letters, formats and telephone etiquette.
  • Ability to effectively deal with internal and external customers, some of whom will require high levels of patience, tact and diplomacy. 
  • Ability to access and accurately input information into a computer using Microsoft Office Suite. 
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions. 
  • Ability to stand and/or sit and continuously perform essential job functions for duration of shift with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Ability to set-up and maintain filing systems. 
  • Command of the English language both written and verbal.
