Job Description

GENERAL DESCRIPTION and OF POSITION

Responsible for running the day-to-day operations of the assigned business units. Finds ways to make the assigned business units more productive by improving business operations. Prepares, reviews, and achieves budgets in conjunction with upper management.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Leads the continuous improvement of the operational systems, processes, and policies in support of the company's mission--specifically regarding support safety, quality, delivery, availability, and cost initiatives.
  • Manages and increases the effectiveness and efficiency of support services through improvements to each function as well as through coordination and communication between the support and business functions.
  • Plans for long-term success through implementation of continuous improvement (e.g., lean manufacturing and Six Sigma) process control.
  • Drives performance against the budget and financial and operational goals. Oversees short- and long-term financial and managerial reporting.
  • Drives initiatives in the management team and organizationally that contribute to long-term operational excellence.
  • Contributes to short- and long-term organizational planning and strategy as a member of the management team.
  • Prepares and presents operational status presentations to executives and other managers.
  • Performs other related duties as required or assigned.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Supervises supervisory and/or non-supervisory employee(s)
    • Interviewing and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance, rewarding, and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
    • Working with HumanResources on employee issues.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS

Skills and Abilities

  • Knows production processes machining and assembly manufacturing.
  • Effectively communicates information and responds to questions in person-to-person and small group situations with customers, clients, the general public, and other employees of the organization.
  • Maintains confidentiality and uses discretion with business and personnel information.
  • Reads and understands documents such as policy manuals, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, drawings, prints and procedure manuals.
  • Utilizes common-sense understanding in order to carry out written, oral, or diagrammed instructions.
  • Deals with problems involving several known variables in situations of routine nature.
  • Frequently makes decisions of both minor and major importance, which may affect the work operations of other employees and/or clientele to a moderate degree.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, management, business administration, finance, or a related field Highly preferred
  • Ten years of relevant experience in production facilities management, supply chain management, finance, or a related field (required).

Computer Skills

  • Intermediate:Microsoft Office suite.

Certificates and Licenses

  • Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt certification (preferred).
  • Certification in lean manufacturing processes.
