Job Summary:

  • Facilitates the flow of patients through the emergency care system, ensuring timely evaluation according to the health care needs of the patients.
  • Demonstrates knowledge and skills in the care of the emergency department patients.  Considers principles of emergency care while assisting the RN to formulate an appropriate plan of care for the patient.
  • Physician orders are carried out accurately in providing direct patient care within scope of practice.
  • Administers prescribed medications (PO, IM, SQ, IV) to patients in accordance with hospital policies and scope of practice guidelines.
  • Display clinically strong decision-making skills in emergency situations.
  • Answer and receive patient report from EMS on radio and upon patient arrival to emergency department.
  • Knowledge and adherence to EMTALA in emergency department setting.
  • Vascular access and phlebotomy.
  • 12-lead EKG and rhythm interpretation.
  • Implementation of ACLS and BTLS protocols.
  • Point of Care laboratory testing.
  • Specialty emergent tray set-up and assistance.
  • Application of orthopedic interventions including splints, traction and durable medical equipment.
  • Documentation is consistent, complete, thorough and legible.
  • Transport and supply stocking of the department; some clerical functions may be required.

TriStar Hendersonville Medical Center, a 148-bed hospital about 15 minutes outside of Nashville, has provided high-quality health care to residents of Sumner and surrounding counties for over 35 years. The facility is the first Accredited Chest Pain Center in Sumner County and is a Certified Primary Stroke Center. The Birth Center at TriStar Hendersonville, featuring Sumner County’s only Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), hosts spacious LDRP suites and a lactation boutique for inpatient and outpatient services. Qualifications

Required:

  • Graduate of an accredited EMT-Paramedic training program
  • Current EMT-Paramedic licensure to practice as a paramedic in the state of Tennessee
  • A minimum of one-year of continuous experience on an Advanced Life Support Ground Unit as an EMT-P Experience must reflect general knowledge in pre-hospital medicine principles and practice skills
  • BLS
  • ACLS, PALS within 6 months
  • De-Escalation Training within 6 months

Preferred:

  • A minimum of one-year emergency services experience in a hospital setting.
  • NREMT-P
  • BTLS/PHTLS
  • Critical Care Paramedic Certification
  • Associates Degree in Applied Sciences
