L.L.Bean is currently searching for a Programmer to join the Information Services team located in Freeport, Maine.

Position Purpose: In this important role this person will support retail systems for L.L.Bean Retail Stores.  Administration and support of multiple third-party software solutions, internal applications, and integrations between the two. Troubleshooting and resolution of day to day third-level incidents. Builds low to moderate complexity computer programs to meet business informational needs and requirements. Develops, tests, debugs and documents programs based on technical configurations and specifications.   

Responsibilities:

  • Daytime and on-call support of retail store technology.

  • Modifies or develops applications programs from detailed specifications with guidance from others as required. 

  • Develops, tests, debugs, documents, maintains, and implements programs.

  • Provides estimates for design solutions.

  • Estimates and tracks time required to complete work, for project budgeting and financial tracking. 

  • Applies formal methodologies when developing solutions.

  • May participate in the implementation and integration of packaged software.

  • Works independently and collaboratively with team; provides regular updates to leader. 

  • Conducts code reviews.

  • Adheres to coding and development standards

  • Adheres to security standards in support of PCI compliance.

  • Responsible for 24/7 research and resolution of production system problems when on-call.

  • Research systems problems and review findings and possible solutions with more experienced staff.

Education Level: Preferred 4-Year bachelor’s degree computer science

Years of Experience: 1-3+ years

  • Team Skills:  Flexibility, Collaboration, negotiation, facilitation, communication, presentation, group dynamics, and solid English language skills and comprehension

  • Technical skills:  Problem solving skills, solid development skills.

  • Technologies Java, JavaScript, SQL, HTML, Unix, Node.js, React, Bash

  • Databases: SQL Server, DB2

  • MS Desktop tools

  • Methodologies:  Iterative Development (Agile), Waterfall. 

  • Testing:  Unit, Integration, Atlassian Tools

  • IDE:  Eclipse

  • Source Code Control and Issue Tracking.
