Job Description

Work for Controls Systems Integrator in Water/Wastewater (W/WW) and other industries as a Project Engineer in their Charlotte, NC office. The Project Engineer is responsible for efficiently designing, managing, testing, implementing, and completing projects in a timely manner while meeting or exceeding project specifications and budget requirements. Past experience in Water/Wastewater controls is required.


In this role, you will work in all areas of project implementation including project management, panel design, hardware selection, vendor/end-user/consultant interaction, programming, testing, and site support. You will work with relay and PLC-based control panel designs including schematics, panel layouts, and bill of material. You will perform design analysis including fuse sizing, breaker sizing, wire sizing, and short circuit analysis. You will perform in-shop testing and field startups, and you will support Project Management, Sales, Receiving, Drafting, Documentation, Purchasing, Production, and Shipping.

Requirements

  • BS in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology, or Computer Engineering
  • Basic computer software skills using Microsoft Office Suite, E-Mail, Internet, AutoCAD.
  • 5 years related work experience (Water/Wastewater required)
  • PLC and HMI programming (Allen Bradley, Siemens, GE, FactoryTalk)
  • Willingness and ability to learn technical skills.
  • Self-motivated and have a proven ability to assume primary responsibility for intermediate projects with minimal supervision.
  • Knowledge and experience with specialized tools and test equipment.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • 40-50% travel to customer sites
Responsibilities

  • Design electrical control panels and systems to meet project specifications and division design standards.
  • Coordinate with panel production personnel in the fabrication of control panels.
  • Develop procedures and plans for factory and field testing of control panels and systems.
  • Develop PLC and HMI applications per project specifications and across multiple platforms using division/industry standards and best practices.
  • Program complex sequences including lead/lag and cascade PID control systems.
  • Manage multiple projects following company procedures and guidelines.
  • Coordination of projects to meet expected deliverable goals for quality, schedule, and budget.
  • Direct activities to ensure that manufacturing, construction, installation, and operational testing conform to functional specifications and customer requirements.
  • Perform “3-Way Check” of Control Panel Drawings.
  • Coordinate operation, maintenance, and repair of equipment and systems in field installations.
  • Technical document writing including Testing Procedures, Training Plans, and Sequence of Operations Notify Project Managers and Group Managers of schedule/budget goals issues. Request quotes from vendors and verify quoted equipment meets specification requirements.
  • Attend training and continuing education related to the industry. Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
