Job Description

Privately held meat processor of sausage and smoked meat products distributing to grocery retailers, food service, restaurants and direct to consumers.

Responsibilities:

Responsible for organizing and directing the quality and food safety protocols in the processing, smokehouse and packaging departments.

Supervises the inspection program including all HACCP records. Serves as the liaison between the company and USDA / FSIS inspection personnel and maintain all inspection records. Ensures all daily / weekly / monthly activities / responsibilities of the QA department are completed timely, accurately and within guidelines. Scrutinizes production activities focusing on improving quality. Works with production to help develop and introduce new products / varieties as needed.

Maintains the highest level of Food Safety in the plant and through training, observation, and implementation of programs. Implements and maintains the company’s Safety Handbook as directed by the Plant Manager. Ensure that Food Safety forms, including HACCP, are complete and ready for monitoring or verification. Ensures Inventory Control and documentation is current to allow for proper scheduling and purchasing. Assists Plant Manager in all R&D production activities.

Qualifications:

3+ years QA operations work experience in a USDA food processing plant.

Working knowledge with Food Safety protocols: HACCP, PCQI, SQF, Better Process Control.

Work in a fast-paced environment, be proactive, self-motivated and self-directed.

Bi-lingual Spanish, ideal.
