PRIMARY PURPOSE

The Quality Program Data Analyst supports the data management, analytic and reporting needs of the Quality and Patient Safety Division (QPS). This position will oversee management, utilization, and manipulation of a variety of data platforms, formats, and applications. The analyst will also facilitate the creation of reports from a variety of data sources as well as the construction and maintenance of dashboards and dashboard elements. The Quality Program Data Analyst leverages expertise to provide support to key functional areas of the QPS Division and throughout the organization. Collaborates with other departments, service lines, clinicians, and vendors. Will continuously improve divisional data analytics, reporting strategies and data management capabilities.

MINIMUM SPECIFICATIONS

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in Health Informatics, Information Technology, Nursing, or a clinically related field of study from an accredited college or university.

Preferred Education

  • Master's Degree in Health Informatics, Biostatistics, or a related field of study from an accredited college or university.

Experience

  • 2 plus years of experience in data management and analytics in a healthcare setting.
  • 2 plus years of analytic experience in data warehouse, data mart or other big data settings.

Certification/Registration/Licensure

  • Must obtain Certified Professional in Healthcare Quality (CPHQ) through the National Association for Healthcare Quality or other accrediting body within 24 months of placement in position.

Responsibilities

  1. Works effectively as an individual or on an interdisciplinary team.
  2. Perform high level quality data analytics and reporting functions.
  3. Knowledgeable of annual goals, objectives, and policies related to clinical quality data to ensure data integrity, data accuracy and timeliness of reporting.
  4. Establishes and maintains positive working relationships with campus-wide representatives in working toward the clinical quality, administrative and information technology goals of Parkland.
  5. Designs and produces reports, dashboards and other materials for the division as well as another customer’s enterprise wide.
  6. Creates and maintains analytical reports and automates report distribution.
  7. Consults with applications and technical support staff on technical issues to ensure appropriate systems components are functioning effectively.
  8. Administers applications utilized for the department to carry out its analytics and reporting functions, including but not limited to Vizient, National Database of Nursing Quality Indicators (NDNQI), National Surgical Quality Improvement Program (NSQIP), WebE, Lumira, SharePoint, SPSS, SQL, and Web Intelligence.
  9. Manages multiple complex projects at the same time.
  10. Updates and assists in the development of reference materials, procedures manuals, and data dictionaries for the department.
  11. Adheres to deadlines established by the Board of Managers, Quality of Care & Patient Safety Committee, the Quality Review Organization and Parkland Leadership.
  12. Identifies ways to improve work processes and improve customer satisfaction. Makes recommendations, implements, and monitors results as appropriate in support of the overall goals of the department and Parkland.
  13. Stays abreast of the latest developments, advancements, and trends in the field of healthcare data analytics by attending seminars/workshops, reading professional journals, and actively participating in professional organizations. Integrates knowledge gained into current work practices.
  14. Maintains knowledge of applicable rules, regulations, policies, laws, and guidelines that impact the area. Develops effective internal controls designed to promote adherence with applicable laws, accreditation agency requirements, and federal, state, and private health plans. Seeks advice and guidance as needed to ensure proper understanding.

  3. Maintains knowledge of applicable rules, regulations, policies, laws and guidelines that impact the area. Develops effective internal controls designed to promote adherence with applicable laws, accreditation agency requirements, and federal, state, and private health plans. Seeks advice and guidance as needed to ensure proper understanding.
