We are looking for a Research Associate to join our North Americas Gas Research team in Houston, Texas.

Purpose of this Role
Wood Mackenzie’s North America Gas Research team provides industry-leading fundamentals analysis and commercially relevant insights covering the North American natural gas market. This analytical role in the North America Gas team is pivotal to the success of the team. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and delivering in-depth, high quality Gas Market analysis, including supply-demand balancing and working with the teams across the business to forecast demand. This role will also be one of the team's primary users of Wood Mackenzie’s proprietary GPCM forecasting model and contribute significantly to the team’s short- and long-term gas forecasts. The role holder will collaborate with the team to help publish written reports and presentations for clients on the WoodMac portal (www.woodmac.com). An analytic mind, experience working with statistical models and large data sets will be essential to deliver success in the role. A collaborative attitude and a desire to develop or expand gas market knowledge are also critical.
About The Day To Day Responsibilities Of The Role
- Primary user for Wood Mackenzie’s proprietary North America demand modelling, GPCM and National Balance models forecasting.
- Lead analysis for pipeline infrastructure and related regulatory developments at the federal, state and local levels
- Create innovative reports to help visualize our datasets and interpret modelling results.
- Assist senior analysts with in-depth market analysis on a variety of topics and in creating ways to visualize that analysis to help communicate our views to clients.
- Support the integrated markets update process for Americas and Global Commodities teams.
About You and How You Can Excel in this Role
- Strong Analytical skills
- Years of experience: 0-3 years
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Access
- Experience working with statistical models and large datasets
- Experience with data visualization
- Collaborative attitude and a team player
- Previous experience working in gas markets or with GPCM is preferred but not required
- Work efficiently, finding ways to ensure quality while being timely.
- Strive for continuous improvement in yourself and your work
- A passion for learning and to continue to grow and expand your knowledge of energy markets
- Ability to work collaboratively and in a team environment.
