The Winfield at Richmond Heights is a Senior Living community located in Richmond Heights that provides Independent and Assisted Living Services. Our Community promotes a warm and respectful atmosphere for all of our residents and staff.

The Winfield at Richmond Heights is currently searching for  State Tested Nursing Assistant/Caregivers-All Shifts for immediate hire.

The primary purpose of this position is to assist your assigned residents at the highest degree of quality with daily assistance with activities of daily living such as bathing, dressing, oral hygiene, grooming, toileting/incontinence care, ambulation & transfers, in order to foster each resident's independence and freedom of choice in accordance with our established Assisted Living policies and procedures.

This position is accountable to the Charge Nurse on duty, the Nursing Supervisors and/or the Wellness Director

Major Duties and Responsibilities of the STNA (State Tested Nursing Assistant) position include but are not limited to the following:

  • Meet the ADL needs of each resident
  • Participate in planning and follow the current resident service plan on all residents under Assisted Living Care
  • Provide assistance with resident activities of daily living as outlined in the client care plan.  Assistance includes: bathing, dressing, oral hygiene, grooming/hair care, toileting/incontinence care, ambulation, transfers, medication reminders.  Also provides assistance with instrumental activities of daily living including telephone, light housekeeping tasks, personal laundry, escort residents within the community, etc
  • Complete assignments effectively & promptly
  • Able to follow instructions and direction from the Wellness Director, Supervisor of Assisted Living and the LPN's in accordance with the Client Service Plan
  • Observe changes in resident's physical conditions and cognitive status, and report them to a licensed nurse.  Report relevant resident information to each oncoming shift through written/verbal report
  • Refer families to the Supervisor of Assisted Livng Services or other licensed personnel regarding the status of residents
  • Document accurately & completely
  • Meet personal grooming needs for each resident
  • Answer emergency call system promptly & courteously
  • Provide resident assistance in the dining room as needed
  • Demonstrate correct safety techniques and use proper body mechanics when bending or lifting
  • Take care of all facility equipment 
  • Contribute to effective communication and pleasant working conditions
  • Promote positive resident and family relations
  • Follow Assisted Living and community policies and procedures
  • Have working knowledge of Residents' Rights and Responsibilities
  • Continue growth and expand job knowledge
  • Demonstrate leadership skills
  • Other duties as assigned
  • Participate in all in-service trainings as well as all emergency drills

Job Requirements for the STNA (State Tested Nursing Assistant) position:

  • Current STNA certification in good standing
  • CPR certified or ability to obtain within 60 days of hire
  • Must be able make independent decisions when necessary
  • Must have critical thinking ability, must be able to determine appropriate solutions to issues as they arise.  Must be able to remain calm in emergency situations
  • Must be able to deal tactfully with personnel, residents, family members and all visitors
  • Must demonstrate competency in the following areas:  implementing plans to meet resident needs, written and oral communication skills & interpersonal relations
  • Must be knowledgeable of the community's emergency preparedness plan, including the location and use of fire alarm and fire extinguishers
  • Working knowledge of proper transfer procedures and body mechanics
  • Must maintain confidentiality regarding residents in compliance with HIPAA regulations
  • Have patience, tact, a cheerful disposition and enthusiasm as well as the willingness to handle difficult residents
  • Must be willing to seek out new methods and principles and be willing to incorporate them into the existing nursing practices
  • Must have reliable transportation
  • Must be able to pass new hire physical & drug screen and have clean background check
