This is an outstanding opportunity to join the L.L.Bean Creative Team as a Senior Managing Producer.

As a leader of the Creative Team, this essential role oversees the management of still photography, advertising projects, branded content, and budget oversight. Other responsibilities include creating, managing, and coordinating the schedule and workflow processes for all aspects of photography and videography both in house and with agencies. This role will have leadership responsibility of a team of creative professionals along with freelance resources and a collaborative relationship with the L.L.Bean in house photo and video studio, Studio 1912. L.L.Bean welcomes the opportunity for this role to be based at the corporate headquarters in Freeport, Maine, or can be based remotely. This position will have the opportunity to travel to a variety of exciting locations.

Responsibilities:

  • In line with corporate and Creative strategies, plan and produce visual art making to express the brand vision in all customer exposure points (Digital, Print, Social, Broadcast, and other Brand channels)
  • Through relationships with Merchandising, Marketing and Creative Traffic oversee an intake process to forecast the production needs in the upcoming seasons
  • With the support of a team, plan resources, logistics and schedules for successful execution of photography, video, and other art as needed (Illustration, animation, etc.)
  • Evaluate and recommend appropriate resources to support creative needs: locations, casting, talent
  • Manage and coordinate agency relationships
  • Negotiate rates for freelance talent and models
  • Manage model and photographer contracts and agreements
  • Continually evaluate and adjust processes and tools to support evolving project needs
  • Create and manage annual art and design budgets
  • Manage and approve all invoices and coordinate payments with Finance
  • Track and report budgets to Creative and Finance leadership and related stakeholders
  • Create, maintain and optimize systems for recording production metrics relative to budget targets and strategic priorities; communicate progress regularly to key stakeholders
  • On up to a half time basis, directly oversee the production work for branded content – both video and long form content with photography
  • Hire and supervise direct reports: set goals, assign work; integrate engage talent development and performance assessment into people management practice
  • Hire, train and manage all freelance producers
  • Collaborate with Studio 1912 manager on schedules and budgets
  • Collaborate with partners in Risk Management, Finance, Security and Legal Departments to coordinate corporate policies and external regulations in order to establish policies for photo shoot health, safety and wellness and legal compliance on set and with the art produced
  • Frequent travel, including to Maine, and extended time away from the office is critical in this role, including some weekends. (Approximately 50% travel.)
  • Other related duties as assigned.

Education Level: 4-Year Bachelor’s Degree, PMP certification a plus

Years of Experience: 10+

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Clear understanding and related experience of Creative Production
  • Well-developed project management skills with an ability to multitask and meet tight, changing deadlines
  • Proven leadership capabilities with a high value on collaboration and inclusion
  • Aptitude to build relationships and influence within and across the organization
  • Highly competent with budget development and management
  • Possess a deep knowledge of the industry with active contacts across agencies, crews, and locations
  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal
  • Demonstrate a tendency toward being proactive and solutions oriented
  • Respectful of the systems within a large corporation, yet open and experienced to diplomatically lead change when appropriate
  • Stay calm under pressure
  • Strong appreciation of the outdoors and ability to convey that in the L.L.Bean brand
  • Knowledge of software applications such as MS Office Suite
